The Earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof. Here's a question to ponder today for the West Durham Word on Wednesday: "Are you taking care of the ground God has given you to stand on?"

As we reflect on Sunday past, it was filled with many things, but nothing short of purpose. Just as our black churches opened their doors during the Civil Rights Movement so that the people could be informed, West Durham was reminded that we are still living in a time when we must be encouraged and informed about our voting rights. West Durham welcomed two representatives as we gear up for voting season. One of the representatives was a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. who also extended an invitation to come and enjoy an afternoon of "party at the polls" located on NCCU's campus, near the Law School building, for the purpose of encouraging early voting. West Durham also acknowledged and celebrated breast cancer survivors, as well as all cancer survivors during this month of October, recognized as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. All in all, with our full service, the Word was not overshadowed. Our Pastor, the Reverend Dr. LaMont J. Johnson, Sr., still preached a powerful Holy Ghost-filled Word entitled "The Results Are Already In" which spoke to the season we are in. In all your gathering of information, remember this point from Pastor Johnson's sermon: "There is a difference between being elected by people and being chosen by God!"
