As we celebrate Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Month, it is important to think about the ways Christians in other countries and cultures understand stories found in the Bible. One unique understanding is a Korean theology called "Minjung." Minjung can be translated as “the masses” or “the people,” and Minjung theology is focused on the struggles of the poor. This school of thought views the historical struggles of the Korean people under oppressive governments as similar to stories found in the Bible, in which God is on the side of those who are poor and abused. Here is an in depth article explaining this interpretation of scripture.

At the end of April, representatives from 57 countries came together for a first-of-its-kind conference in Colombia specifically focused on figuring out how to transition away from fossil fuels. This is a hopeful step toward progress, although, the U.S. government refused to participate.
