This year the United Methodist Church celebrates 70 years of women’s ordination! Women have always been and will always be preachers, leaders, and teachers in the church; and today at Annual Conference we celebrated that and recognized the female clergy that were in attendance from across the North Carolina Conference. Two of the women standing up there were our head pastor, Rev. Donna Banks, and our Children’s Pastor Rev. Amanda Wilson. The Board of Church and Society of the North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church has awarded a Peace with Justice grant to Epworth UMC. The funds are to be used to support a multi-staged project focused on voter education and voter representation leading up to and following the mid-term elections. We have been asked to document our activities so that our experiences can be shared with the NCCUMC and “help inspire others in the ministry of Justice and Peace.”
