Have you ever wondered about the history of Labor Day? The first Labor Day holiday was celebrated on Tuesday, September 5, 1882, in New York City. On June 28, 1894, President Cleveland signed a law making "Labor Day" the first Monday in September. Later, a resolution of the American Federation of Labor convention of 1909, the Sunday preceding Labor Day was adopted as Labor Sunday and dedicated to the spiritual and educational aspects of the labor movement. Fair pay, equity, and justice are essential to the Labor Movement and to the gospel. "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set free those who are oppressed." Luke 4:18

Have you heard about our adult Sunday School classes? We have five different classes focused on different aspects of faith, community, and reflections! Here is a bit about each:
-Connected in Faith class is for parents with young children looking for support, friendship, and a faith community!
-Genesis class is for those looking to reflect on scripture, faith, and personal growth!
-Nexus class is a book study class for interfaith and contemporary issues and is discussion based!
-Open Door class is for young adults and welcoming to all others. They study faith through different media such as podcasts, books, and scriptures with a focus on marginalized people!
-Seekers class is for people with questions about the gospel, seeking to draw closer to God and each other!
