What We Believe

The word African means that the church was organized by people of African descent and heritage. It does AME Shield not mean that the church was founded in Africa, or that it is for persons of African descent only. The church's roots are of the family of Methodist churches. Methodism provides an orderly system of rules and regulations and places emphasis on a plain and simple gospe

l. The word Episcopal refers to the form of government under which the church operates. The chief executive and administrative officers of the African Methodist Episcopal denomination are the Bishops of the church. The Motto "God Our Father, Christ Our Redeemer, Man our Brother" is a great summary of what the African Methodist Episcopal Church believes.

Dwayne Ballen an award winning broadcast journalist with over 20 years experience, and is a former sports anchor and reporter with locally for 9 years before going national. His broadcast resume includes CBS Sports, The ESPN networks, The Golf Channel, Fox Sports, USA Network, and TNT’s NBA Playoffs coverage. Ballen will be the Master of Ceremonies at the 157th kickoff Anniversary celebration for St. Joseph AME Church, Saturday, August 29th. The celebration known as Dinner En Blanc is a fundraiser for scholarships specifically for students of North Carolina Central University There are a few tickets remaining for this wonderful event featuring the jazz sounds of MARCUS ANDERSON 🤩
