Our hearts were made solemn by honoring our men and women who have served/and are still serving in our Armed Forces. We honored them for their many sacrifices they make for their families and for our Country. We’re praying for God’s blessings upon them and for God’s Divine protection over them and their families. 🇺🇸
In absence of Pastor Al Byrd who was on an assignment, Pastor Peggy House delivered to us an encouraging Message Titled: “Why Do We Think God Owes Us?” To begin her message she made confession that she felt that she was delivering her message from a place within herself and maybe not so much for those listening. 👂
Her inspiration got our attention for us to search our true authentic selves to see if we have ever felt that we go to God’s word, we pray, we feel we do everything to serve God to the best of our sincerity, but our prayers remain unanswered.
We say, “but God You said all I have to do is ask and I will receive, but I have yet to receive what I’ve asked You!” We develop a sense of entitlement, we become disheartened, we lose hope and become depressed and sometimes may even become angry with God.
We must come to understand that our requests are on conditional promises, not always for all of our situation or selfish desires.
📖 Psalms 24:1, Psalms 37:4, Psalms 84:11, Psalms 91:11, Psalms 103, Isaiah 54:17, Matthew 7:7, Deuteronomy 28:3, 28:13, Romans 5:8, Romans 8:18, Luke 18:1,
We are not immune to sufferings, pain, heartaches, and disappointments, and we sometimes assume these scriptures to mean we should receive exactly what we desire and in the manner we desire to receive them to be done. Romans 8:17 can cause us to feel entitlement for the sake of God being our Father and we are joint heirs with Him because we’re placing unwise expectations that the Lord never promised us in His word. 🙌
He only knows what is in His Divine plan for us.
All scripture can be looked upon as if the Lord works like a magician and He grants us our selfish desires. We take upon the entitlement spirit again that God suppose to do everything when we make our requests known to Him. His ways are not like our ways. We must not treat God like He works for us when we fail to realize that God doesn’t owe us to grant us our selfish entitlements.
We must never forget God’s benefits, what He has done/and is still doing for us when we go through trials and testings, and in periods of despair. When we forget, we began to feel God owes us. When we truly become grateful for our blessings, entitlement is destroyed.
Pastor Peggy encouraged us to find that quite place to reminisce and meditate on what God has done and is still doing in our lives. The Lord has reminded us throughout scripture that the enemy comes only but to kill, steal, and to destroy us and he will use any means necessary to come against us when we misunderstand God’s word and His promises. Jesus withstood and overcame all struggles and oppositions so that we may have hope and for us to put our trust in Him. God never promised us a “Rose Garden” but He wants us to realize that He’s in total control of our lives and everything we pray for must be surrendered to Him and to trust in His timing. 💙
We must also realize whatever we are now facing is our assignment and not our final reward.
If God never does anything else He gave us His ultimate sacrifice when He offered up His Son on the cross. Importantly, and finally, we must have an eternal view of Christ rather than our immediate focus on our present situations.
We must remain faithful because there’s a crown 👑 stored up in Heaven for the righteous that have not forsaken the Lord, but have endured through many temptations unto the end! ♥️
