You can love Jesus…
and still struggle with church.

You show up…
but something feels off.

And if you’re honest?
You’ve probably wondered if you’re the problem.

𝐁𝐮𝐭 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮’𝐫𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐭?

What if that tension you feel isn’t failure…
but hunger for something real?

We’ve been sitting in that tension too.

He is risen.

Not just a moment we remember…
but a reality we live in.

Death didn’t win.
Darkness didn’t get the final word.

Jesus did.

And because of that…
everything changed.

Today is a reminder…

Jesus didn’t say:

“Try harder.”
“Clean yourself up.”
“Get it together first.”

He said:

“𝐈𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐝.”

Not partially finished.
Not almost enough.
Not waiting on you to complete it.

𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐝.

The weight you carry.
The striving.
The need to prove yourself.

All of it… met at the cross.

It’s not a question people always say out loud…

But it shows up in how we live:

In what we share. In what we hide.In how we show up.

Somewhere along the way, a lot of us started to believe:𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐢𝐭 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠.

Not because anyone said it directly…but because it’s what it feels like.

So we adjust. We filter. We present the version of ourselves that feels acceptable.

But when you look at Jesus…

the people around Him didn’t have it all together. And they weren’t asked to pretend like they did.

𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐞𝐧.𝐊𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐧.𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐝.

Not after they got their life cleaned up…but right in the middle of it.

Most people aren’t looking for perfect communities.
They’re looking for real ones.

It’s not a question people always say out loud…

But it’s one we hear underneath a lot of conversations:

“𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐜𝐡𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥 𝐟𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐬?”

We don’t think most people are trying to be fake.

In fact, we think it’s the opposite.

A lot of people are trying really hard.

Trying to say the right things.
Trying to believe the right things.
Trying to present the “best version” of themselves.

But somewhere along the way…

church quietly shifted from a place where people could be known
to a place where people feel like they have to perform.

And when that happens, something important gets lost.

Honesty gets replaced with image.
Questions get replaced with certainty.
And presence gets replaced with pressure.

We don’t think people are looking for perfect communities.

We think they’re looking for real ones.

It’s a question we hear more than you might think:

“𝐀𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐲 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐡?”

Short answer? No.

We’re not angry.

👉 𝙒𝙚'𝙧𝙚 𝙙𝙞𝙨𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙩.

Not because we’ve given up on the Church…
but because we haven’t.

We’ve seen glimpses of something deeper.
More honest.
More human.
More like Jesus.

And once you’ve tasted that…
it’s hard to settle for anything less.

For some, that tension feels like frustration.
For others, it feels like quiet disappointment.

For a lot of people…
it just feels like something’s missing.

And maybe the hardest part?

No one really talks about it. So we will.

“𝐒𝐨… 𝐢𝐬 𝐌𝐨𝐬𝐚𝐢𝐜 𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐚 𝐁𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐲?”

Someone asked me that recently when I was describing what we’re building.

And honestly, it’s a fair question.

When people hear about a small group of people gathering around Jesus, Scripture, and conversation, “Bible study” is usually the closest comparison they have.

But Mosaic is actually something 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭.

The heart behind it is simple: 𝘢 𝘴𝘮𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘥𝘢𝘺 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘧𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘰𝘸 𝘑𝘦𝘴𝘶𝘴 𝘵𝘰𝘨𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘪𝘯 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘥𝘢𝘺 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦.

Not a program.
Not a weekly event.

A place where people are known, everyone has a voice, and faith moves beyond an hour on Sunday.

Over the next few weeks I’m going to start answering some of the other questions people ask about Mosaic.

But I’m curious — 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐬𝐤?

One of the things we’ve noticed when people hear about Mosaic is that it immediately raises questions.

Some of them are curious questions. Some of them are skeptical questions.

Honestly, we think that’s a good thing.

Starting something new should raise questions.

Over the next few weeks we’ll start answering some of the ones we hear most often.

But we’d love to hear from you: If you were hearing about Mosaic for the first time, what question would you ask?

Over the last few weeks, I’ve been inviting a small group of people to read through a drafted version of our vision, rhythms, and structure for Mosaic.

And I told them:

𝐃𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐛𝐞 𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐞.
𝐓𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐦𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐞𝐞.
𝐓𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐦𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥𝐬 𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫.
𝐓𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐦𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮.

Some of the hardest feedback so far has been this:

“𝘞𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘑𝘦𝘴𝘶𝘴 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘭𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘵𝘭𝘺 𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦?”
“𝘈𝘳𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘸𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘶𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘤𝘩𝘶𝘳𝘤𝘩?”

Those aren’t attacks.
They’re good questions.

If we’re serious about forming communities shaped by the Gospel — not just informed about it — then those questions matter. A lot.

We’re not trying to build something impressive.
We’re trying to build something faithful.

And faithfulness requires humility. It requires outside voices. It requires slowing down before launching and asking, “Are we actually becoming the kind of people we say we want to be?”

So before anything goes public, we’re listening.

Question: 𝐈𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐜𝐡𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐬𝐤 𝐛𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐭 𝐥𝐚𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐬?
I’d genuinely love to hear.

𝐌𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐭 𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭.

Agree with the theology.
Agree with the politics.
Agree with the vibe.

And slowly, without meaning to, they become echo chambers.

𝐖𝐞 𝐝𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭.

Before anything launches publicly, we’re opening up an early draft of our vision, rhythms, and structure to people who don’t all think alike. People who have questions. People who have doubts. People who’ve been hurt. People who aren’t sure what they believe.

Not because we’re unsure of our center.
But because we’re serious about building something honest.

If Mosaic is going to be healthy, it can’t be shaped by applause alone. It has to be shaped by conversation.

That’s slower.
That’s riskier.
But that’s how movements stay alive.
