Unplanned and rather unusual, two Sundays ago (before we moved out of the church), all three of St. Philip's vergers showed up at church sporting their recently acquired Vergers Guild shirts.

Between the three of them, Ron, Josh and Bill help keep our altar parties in line and our liturgies running smoothly. Ron (left) and Bill (right) have both completed training through the Vergers Guild of the Episcopal Church, and Josh (center) is just beginning his formal verger training course. We're grateful for their service at St. Philip's!

If you show up to St. Philip's parking lot on the first Tuesday morning of the month, you'll likely be greeted by a long line of cars and people lined up on foot. That’s because every first Tuesday, Urban Ministries of Durham distributes free groceries from St. Philip’s parking lot to any person who needs food.

Last week, UMD volunteers and students from the Duke School of Nursing helped distributed cereal, fruit, canned veggies, potatoes, and more. What a great way to help our community!

Moving Day? More like Moving Hour. Move Coordinator Rebecca Hix had planned for Saturday’s move out of the church to take three hours. But our volunteer movers brought the ENERGY and it was all moved in 1 hour 33 minutes! What a team! 🙌

Godspeed, Pam! On Monday, St. Philip's Daughters of the King hosted a farewell tea for Pam Denning, who's moving to the Asheville area later this month to be closer to her son.

"It's been such a joy to be at St. Philip's," said Pam, who's been at St. Philip's for the past 20 years. Pam, you'll definitely be missed!

Last weekend was perfect for St. Philip's family camping. Kerr Lake was gorgeous, with sunny warm days and crisp cool nights. There was plenty of time to relax with friends, try paddle boarding (if you were a youth), play mahjong (if you were an adult), start a campfire, go night fishing, and then fall asleep in a cozy sleeping bag.

Plus, all the adults got to bond while they jumped each others' car batteries. (Turns out leaving your car door open while car camping does in fact drain the battery!) Don't worry, all turned out fine!
