This will be Peace Covenant's 11th Church World Service CROP hunger walk (at least!). We are part of the Durham community’s 50th annual CROP walk in 2024! CROP targets hunger and water projects, here in Durham and globally. Give now and walk with us Sunday, March 24.

Peace Covenant's goal is $2,500. You can give securely online. The link is below. Here are a few examples of how your contribution helps:

- $20 buys chickens for a family. Eggs provide protein.

- $30 equips a family with clean water for drinking, washing and cooking

- $470 purchases a cow for a family, providing milk, calves for income.

If we work together, we can end world hunger. That's why we're participating in the 2024 CROP Hunger Walk to support CWS and help families who are struggling with hunger. Please join us with your steps and your donations. Together we will provide more meals for the growing number of people in our co...

A bittersweet day honoring Pastor Dana. We’re so grateful for Dana being our pastor these last eight years - nurturing, guiding, and challenging our “tiny, mighty” Peace Covenant community. We’ll certainly miss you but know the Spirit’s moving. Blessings and prayers on your journey ahead 💕

CREATION CARE SPOTLIGHT:  Each month the Ministry Team will feature one thing you and we as a community can do to be better stewards of the environment.  We’ll get these ideas from several sources we’ve chosen to connect to.

WHAT IS THE CONCERN?  An estimated 4 trillion single-use plastic bags annually are used- most for less than 20 minutes when a shopper brings home items from a store. As these bags tangle recycling center machinery they aren’t allowed in curbside recycling resulting in very few getting returned to special drop off bins for reprocessing. These plastic bags eventually degrade into micro-plastics which enter soil, water, and living things causing environmental and health concerns. (earthday.org)

WHAT CAN I (WE) DO?  Carry reusable bags in your car for groceries or other purchases. As you exit your car, check that you have your keys and reusable bag(s) before shopping.  Reflect on these questions each week this month: How many single-use plastic bags did I get? Or how many single-use bags didn’t I get because of using reusable bags?   Goal: Getting minimal or eliminating single-use plastic bags.

WHAT ELSE?   Consider signing up for the Church of the Brethren’s “On Earth” Creation Care newsletter. This is a monthly or occasional newsletter focusing on creation care. It contains inspiration, information, and an invitation for action.  Sign up: brethren.org/on-earth

We were so blessed to hear from Amber Harris yesterday as our first guest preacher of the year! She shared a beautiful sermon as well as an update on her ministry through in Winston-Salem. And, as an added bonus, we got to celebrate her ordination for the first time in-person with a handmade basin from a local potter 🎉

Merry Christmas! 🎄 We celebrated together with worship, a brunch potluck feast and several service projects to share the love of Christ in our neighborhood. Together, we made 4 casseroles for families at Urban Ministries of Durham, packed 100 pounds of rice and 75 pounds of beans for Parktown Food Hub and created over 50 greeting cards to share with friends in 4 local nursing homes. May you find opportunities to share and receive love in this season of incarnate love.
