Today, we remember the victims, survivors, and legacy of the Tulsa Race Massacre of 1921 as we mark the 105th anniversary of this tragic event in American history.

In the Greenwood District of Tulsa, Oklahoma—known as "Black Wall Street"—a thriving Black community was attacked, lives were lost, homes and businesses were destroyed, and generations were impacted by racial violence and injustice.

As we honor those who suffered and those who persevered, we commit ourselves to telling the truth, preserving history, and pursuing justice. Their stories matter. Their lives matter. Their legacy endures.

"The righteous care about justice for the poor, but the wicked have no such concern." — Proverbs 29:7 (HCSB)

May we remember with reverence, learn from the past, and work toward a future marked by justice, healing, and reconciliation.

We also celebrate retired Bishop Warren M. Brown, who was likewise honored during the conference.

Thank you, Dr. Broadnax, for your dedication to ministry, education, and the preservation of our rich history and heritage. Your Mt. Olive family is proud of you!
