THE TRUE WORD OF GOD
Written by: Kurt Carringer
I felt led by the Holy Spirit to give a little history of our inspired and preserved Word of God. We live in a time where Christians don't believe that God is powerful enough to keep his promise in preserving his Word. I often wonder how someone can put their faith of a promise that the shed blood of Jesus will take away their sin, but the same Christian struggles believing the promise that God will preserve his Word. A spiritual hero of mine said “Things that are different are not the same.” It does matter which Bible you use. Take a look:
Psalm 12:6-7 KJV
The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. [7] Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.
Psalm 12:6-7 ESV
The words of the LORD are pure words, like silver refined in a furnace on the ground, purified seven times. [7] You, O LORD, will keep them; you will guard us from this generation forever.
Try NIV
Psalm 12:6-7 NIV
And the words of the LORD are flawless, like silver purified in a crucible, like gold refined seven times. [7] You, LORD, will keep the needy safe and will protect us forever from the wicked.
Is that saying the same thing? Not at all! Of course, the Bible corrupters would have to change the main proof text for preservation so they can do what Satan intended them to do.
Here is another promise given to us in the KJV:
1 Peter 1:23 KJV
Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
Try the ASV
1 Peter 1:23 ASV
having been begotten again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, through the word of God, which liveth and abideth.
1 Peter 1:23 NIV
For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.
1 Peter 1:23 NASB
for you have been born again not of seed which is perishable, but imperishable, that is, through the living and enduring word of God.
God warns us in His word that we should not take from or add to His holy words.
Deuteronomy 4:2 KJV
Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.
Proverbs 30:5-6 KJV
Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. [6] Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.
I will now show the major issues with the newer versions of the Bible. The truth is these versions are good translations of a corrupt text, called the Critical Text. This came from Alexandria Egypt. We can trace the text the KJV came from all the way back to Antioch which is called the Majority Text. I will get in this deeper shortly.
The Alexandrians did not believe in the Deity of Christ, so they made some changes in their text which did in fact attack the purity of the Gospel and Deity of Christ.
Read the following:
Matthew 18:11 KJV
For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost.
In pretty much every other version, that verse is OMITTED! Check your Bible!
Here is plenty more to check that has been completely omitted!
Mark 9:44 KJV
Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
Other versions, OMITTED!
They say they removed this verse because it is repeated twice in the same chapter. The Lord often repeated himself to express the severity of what he was saying!
Mark 11:26 KJV
But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.
OTHER VERSIONS OMITTED!
Mark 15:28 KJV
And the scripture was fulfilled, which saith, and he was numbered with the transgressors.
Other Versions, OMITTED!
PROBABLY THE MOST VITAL BLOW
Acts 8:37 KJV
And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
Other versions OMITTED!
Romans 16:24 KJV
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
Other versions OMITTED!
1 John 5:7-8 KJV
For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. [8] And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.
Other Versions, OMITTED!
1John 5:7 has been under attack by the Arians and other Deity deniers pretty much right after the Holy Spirit inspired John to write it. Many scholars today deny its authority because they say it was not found in the earlier Greek manuscripts. It became known as the Johannine Comma. Even the theologian C.I. Scofield stated in his notes that this verse has no real authority. I am proud to say he and many others are dead wrong!
Dr C.H. Pappas, ThM, wrote in his book, In Defense of the Authenticity of 1 John 5:7: “One may be led astray by the false assumption that the earlier copies of the scriptures are more reliable. To hold such a position is to deny the doctrine of the preservation of the scriptures, which our Lord clearly taught. Matt 24:35
Cyprian who lived hundreds of years before the earliest extant manuscript we have in our possession, quotes 1 John 5:7 in his treatise on the unity of the Church. This was a universal letter written to the churches. All of this implies that 1 john 5:7 was well accepted throughout Christendom. We also have the record of the controversy in the Greek church as early as A.D. 379 with the Arians seeking to remove the Comma. But when it comes to adding the comma to the scriptures, there is a dead silence. The Arians were not challenging Gregory for adding the Comma, but rather, Gregory challenged the Arians for OMITTING the Comma from the sacred Text. This in itself is telling. “
Desiderius Erasmus when providing us the Textus Receptus searched diligently for many Greek manuscripts to compare. He found some with the Comma removed, and some with it in. He then knew it was in accordance with the rest of scripture supporting the Trinity, and only a Deity denier would want it removed. In his research Erasmus did indeed find that the Comma was inspired Scripture.
Now we will look at changed words and phrases that change some vital truths of God's Word.
Luke 24:52 KJV
And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy:
Luke 24:52 RSV
And they returned to Jerusalem with great joy,
“WORSHIPPED” TAKEN OUT!
John 3:13 KJV
And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.
John 3:13 ESV
No one has ascended into heaven except he who descended from heaven, the Son of Man.
“WHICH IS IN HEAVEN”, IS TAKEN OUT
Acts 20:28 KJV
Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of GOD which he hath purchased with his own blood.
Acts 20:28 ASV
Take heed unto yourselves, and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit hath made you bishops, to feed the church of the LORD which he purchased with his own blood.
CHANGED GOD TO LORD, THE KJV IS SAYING GOD SHED HIS BLOOD. ASV IS SAYING THAT IT WAS ONLY JESUS!
Romans 9:5 KJV
Whose are the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh Christ came, who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen.
Romans 9:5 RSV
to them belong the patriarchs, and of their race, according to the flesh, is the Christ. God, who is over all, be blessed for ever. Amen.
THEY TOOK OUT THAT CHRIST WAS OVER ALL!
****KEY VERSE
1 Timothy 3:16 KJV
And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness GOD was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
1 Timothy 3:16 RSV
Great indeed, we confess, is the mystery of our religion: HE was manifested in the flesh, vindicated in the Spirit, seen by angels, preached among the nations, believed on in the world, taken up in glory.
1 Timothy 3:16 ASV
And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness; He who was manifested in the flesh, Justified in the spirit, Seen of angels, Preached among the nations, Believed on in the world, Received up in glory.
1 Timothy 3:16 NIV
Beyond all question, the mystery from which true godliness springs is great: He appeared in the flesh, was vindicated by the Spirit, was seen by angels, was preached among the nations, was believed on in the world, was taken up in glory.
1 Timothy 3:16 ESV
Great indeed, we confess, is the mystery of godliness: He was manifested in the flesh, vindicated by the Spirit, seen by angels, proclaimed among the nations, believed on in the world, taken up in glory.
EVERY OTHER VERSION SAYS “HE” INSTEAD OF “GOD”- This is a attempt to say Jesus isn’t God!
1 Corinthians 10:9 KJV
Neither let us tempt CHRIST, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents.
1 Corinthians 10:9 NASB
Nor are we to put the LORD to the test, as some of them did, and were killed by the snakes.
TAKING OUT CHRIST’S NAME IS SAYING THAT IT WASN’T HIM IN THE O.T.
Jude 1:4 KJV
For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord GOD, and our Lord Jesus Christ.
Jude 1:4 NIV
For certain individuals whose condemnation was written about long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord.
Jude 1:4 ESV
For certain people have crept in unnoticed who long ago were designated for this condemnation, ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into sensuality and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.
Jude 1:4 ASV
For there are certain men crept in privily, even they who were of old written of beforehand unto this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ
ALL THESE TOOK OUT THE NAME “GOD”
This next major change is mind blowing to me. I have read the reasoning behind it but it creates a contradiction in the Word of God. The only reason English speaking people have known that Lucifer is the name for Satan is from the KJV. His name is only used one time in the entire Scripture:
Isaiah 14:12 KJV
How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
Look at what some other versions have replaced it with:
Isaiah 14:12 ASV
How art thou fallen from heaven, O day-star, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, that didst lay low the nations!
Isaiah 14:12 ESV
"How you are fallen from heaven, O Day Star, son of Dawn! How you are cut down to the ground, you who laid the nations low!
The problem with this translation is that the KJV says that the Daystar is Jesus. Have a look:
2 Peter 1:19 KJV
We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the DAY STAR arise in your hearts:
Check this out in another translation. They change Lucifer to Morningstar. The problem is Jesus is called the morning star in the KJV
Isaiah 14:12 NIV
How you have fallen from heaven, morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations!
Check what the KJV says the morning star is:
Revelation 2:28 KJV
And I will give him the morning star.
Revelation 22:16 KJV
I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.
Even the NIV that says the Morning Star fell from heaven, and it says that Jesus is the morning star in revelation.??? Huge contradiction !
Revelation 22:16 NIV
"I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright MORNING STAR"
Revelation 2:28 NIV
I will also give that one the MORNING STAR
If you have been reading this long that means you are seriously interested. We will now talk about the preservation of the Received Text.
Unlike the KJV most of the modern day versions and revisions are copyrighted. I would like to quote Dr. Dennise Corle in his book: God’s inspired Book:
"The NIV text may be quoted in any form(written, visual, electronic or audio) up to and inclusive of five hundred verses without express written permission of the publisher, providing the verses do not amount to a complete book of the Bible, nor the verses quoted account for 25% or more of the total text of the work in which they are quoted. If I understand this, then 75% of the text must be something other than the NIV text.
Thank God the KJV is not copyrighted. God holds the copyright to it and has not only permitted me to publish it, He has commanded that I do so!”
“And the Lord gave the Word: great was the company of those that published it” Psalms 68:11
Other verses teach the same such as :Jer 4:5/4:15/ Nahum 1:15; Neh 8:15; Mark 5:20
:
Here are some major reasons for making Revisions.
1. You are proud enough to assume you can improve on the KJV, which implies that you don't believe in the preservation and inspiration of Scripture.
2. You want to get rich. The Bible is still the #1 selling book.
All these modern-day versions have brought in millions of dollars while confusing sincere people.
As 1 Tim. 6:10 says ,"the love of money is the root of all evil."
3. You want to eliminate certain things you personally don't agree with.
A lot of these new versions are not as hard on sin.
4. You want to start a new denomination in which you are the head. Consider this:
RSV is the most used Bible of the liberals.
NWT is the Bible of the Jehovah witnesses.
NIV is the most used Bible of the charismatics.
KJV is the Bible for the independent Baptist.
There are really only two Types of Bibles. Those that came from the received text from Antioch, which produced the textus receptus from which we get the KJV. The other is called the critical text, which is traced to Alexandria, Egypt. This is what Westcott and Horts Greek text was produced from. Most modern versions come from this text.
The Westcott and Hort Text changes the Textus Receptus in over 5,600 places.
Westcott and Hort sold their text off the of the two 4th century manuscripts that they had found called the Codex Vaticanus, and Codex Sinaiticus. They claim that because those are the earliest manuscripts to date, then they must be the best sources for the text. The problem is, older does not mean better. It may mean it only survived that long because nobody wanted to use them? I have had probably 15 Bibles in my lifetime. My earliest ones are completely worn out because I used them every day like God told me to. But if I had a corrupt one it would sit on a shelf and remain for years and years and years.
The Sinaiticus was found in S.T. Catherine monastery in a trash can in 1844 or 1859 (I’ve seen both dates) The Vaticanus text was found in a Vatican library in 1475 and then it was lost, then it was rediscovered in 1845. When someone is using a Wescott and Hort derived bible. They are choosing to believe that for 1500 years the pure Word of God was hidden in a trash can or a shelf in the Vatican somewhere, and that God only led them to discover it in the 19th century. The strongest evidence that the Received Text is the Word of God is that it was widely accepted and used from generation to generation, originating in the early church. Check out these verses:
Acts 10:36-37, “The Word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ. (he is Lord of All) 37. That word, I Say, ye know, which was PUBLISHED throughout all Judea, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached.
Acts 13:49 “And the Word of the Lord was PUBLISHED throughout all the regions.
We see here that the early Christians were writing down and copying the Gospel and sending it all over as they evangelized the world.
Colossians 4:16 “And when this epistle is read among you, cause that it be read also in the church of Laodiceans; and that ye likewise read the epistle from Laodicea.
We see hear that the epistle that Paul wrote to the church at Colosse, he wanted them to also send it to Laodicea for them to read. Were the Colossians then left without a Word from the Lord? No! They copied it and sent it abroad! The early church was copying and sending it abroad, which started the Majority Text, of which we now have over five thousand manuscripts.
If the Alexandrian text which was never part of the Majority Text, was the Word of God, then why was it not accepted? Why did it seem to vanish or die out and then many years later we find pieces of it and have to add it together to get the complete Word of God?
God said that He would preserve His word forever from generation to generation. Even Westcott and Hort admitted that the Received Text was dominant from the 4th Century onward until they invented the printing press.
I will now propose a list of things you are accepting to believe if you prefer a Westcott and Hort derived Bible.
1. You have to believe that the people that believed in the Deity of Christ often corrupted Bible manuscripts.
2. You have to believe those that deny the Deity of Christ never corrupted Bible manuscripts.
3. You have to believe that the people that died getting the gospel to the world couldn't be trusted with the Bible.
4. You have to believe that their killers could be trusted.
5. You have to believe that the Celtic Christians, Waldenses, Albigenses, Henricians, Petrobrussians,Paulicians, the Greek Orthodox Church, the Anabaptist, and the Baptist all did not have the pure Word of God.
6. You have to believe that the Roman Catholics and the 19th century rationalist did have the pure Word of God.
Understand, things that are different are not the same! Dr Mickey Carter says: “If we look into a parking lot full of cars, we see Ford, Chevrolet, and maybe a Dodge. Why do they have different names? Because they are not the same! Bible versions have different names because they are not the same. There are over 100 complete English versions of the Bible today. Which translation is the Word of God? It cannot be all of them because there’s too much difference between them. The RSV copyrighted by the national council of churches, had two motives behind it. Money and changed doctrine. They changed Isaiah 7:14 to read “young woman” instead of “Virgin” The original language does not give in any way the right to change “virgin” to “young woman” They violated the translation from the Hebrew when they did that.
But what about the NKJV? Things that are different are not the same. The NKJV came to be in late 19th century. It has many changed words. The KJV sought to translate the Word of God word for word by the conviction that was inside them. (Prov 30:5-6; Matt 4:4) The NKJV translators wanted to translate thought by thought. Which one is commanded in scripture?
When you change words, you change meanings. Example:
Acts 3:26 KJV- “Unto first God, having raised up his SON Jesus…”
Acts 3:26 NKJV- “To you first, God, having raised up his SERVANT Jesus”
Theres a big difference between a Son and a Servant.
Exodus 16:28 KJV- “And the Lord said to Moses, How long refuse YE to keep my commandments and my Laws?”
NKJV- “And the Lord said to Moses, how long do YOU refuse to keep my commandments and Laws. “
Ye - means plural, it was written to all the people in the context, not just Moses.
The NKJV constantly uses words that do not have the same meanings. Check these verses if you so desire and compare:
2 Cor 2:17/ Titus 3:10/1 Thess 5:22/Is 65:6 and so many more…
Dr. Arthur Farstad chairman of the NKJV Executive Review committee which had the responsibility of final text approval, stated that this committee was about equally divided as to which was the better Greek N.T text. Textus receptus or the Westcott and Hort. Apparently none of them believed that either text was the Divinely preserved Word of God.
Let’s remember:
Hebrews 4:12” For the Word of God is quick and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart”
Take a look at these wise words:
“I call God to record, against the day we shall appear before our Lord Jesus Christ to give reckoning of our doings, that I never altered one syllable of Gods Word against my conscience, nor would to this day, if all that was in the earth, whether it be honor, pleasure ,or riches, might be given me”
-William Tyndale (Translator of the Tyndale Bible first to be printed in English, much of which became part of the KJV)
Could the translators of the Westcott and Hort text say that?
What was there motive? Money? Fame? changed doctrine?
