May is Foster Care Awareness Month, and we want to take an opportunity to highlight the need for foster homes in our local communities.
There are between 400 and 500 children in foster care in Wake County and less than 100 licensed foster homes. Additionally, a December 2025 report from WRAL news found that 104 children had to stay overnight in converted office and meeting rooms inside the county’s social services building due to placement shortages. In one case, a child stayed there for 100 days.
Cypress View isn’t just a project, it’s a response to a real and urgent need.
Cypress View doesn’t solve the crisis, but it is an important piece of the puzzle.
