St. Mark Lutheran Church St. Mark is a Reconciling in Christ congregation in the ELCA, dedicated to “Boldly Sharing God’s Love and Grace.”

Mark is a spiritual community that celebrates the gifts of God that empower us to engage in the struggles of life, to care for each other, and to serve Christ where we work and live. We welcome the participation of people of all ages, faiths, ethnic backgrounds, sexual orientations, gender identities, educational backgrounds, and economic conditions – all who want to join in community to honor God

September is National Su***de Prevention Month, a time to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and remind those who are struggling that they are not alone. As a community of faith, we are called to listen with compassion, support those who are hurting, and help connect people with care and hope.

We share this prayer from the ELCA’s Prayer Ventures:

“Su***de impacts people of all ages, especially youth and young adults. Pray for hope, relief from suffering and skilled, compassionate care for people who struggle with loneliness, depression and mental illness. Pray that they will find comfort and encouragement in knowing that God abandons no one. Yesterday was a day filled with joy, celebration, holy conversations, and so much love.

Members of St. Mark Lutheran Church joined with our friends from Lutherans for Love to celebrate St. Pete Pride by hosting a booth at the festival and marching in the Pride Parade. Throughout the day, we had the privilege of meeting hundreds of people from all walks of life—sharing smiles, listening to stories, praying with those who desired prayer, giving away affirming books and resources, and simply reminding people that they are deeply loved by God.

One of the most meaningful parts of the day wasn't what we handed out—it was the conversations we shared. We heard stories from people who had been hurt by churches and weren't sure if God still wanted them. We met families searching for a faith community where every member would be welcomed. We celebrated with LGBTQIA+ siblings who had finally found churches where they could belong just as God created them. We laughed, cried, prayed, and witnessed the Holy Spirit at work in countless ways.

As followers of Jesus, we believe that every person is created in God's image and worthy of love, dignity, and belonging.

Our deepest thanks go to every volunteer who made yesterday possible. Thank you to those who spent months planning and organizing. Thank you to everyone who decorated our parade vehicle, hauled supplies, set up and cleaned up our booth, welcomed visitors, shared books and resources, offered prayer, marched in the parade, held signs proclaiming God's love, cheered from the sidelines, and represented Christ with kindness, compassion, and joy. Ministry like this truly takes a village, and we are incredibly grateful for each person who gave their time, energy, creativity, and heart.

We also want to thank everyone who stopped by our booth. Whether we spoke for thirty seconds or thirty minutes, whether you accepted a free book, asked for prayer, shared your story, or simply smiled as you walked by—thank you. You reminded us why this ministry matters.

At St. Mark, we believe God's table is wide, God's grace is abundant, and God's love is for everyone.

If you're looking for a church where you can come as you are, ask honest questions, grow in faith, and know that you are loved, we'd love to welcome you.
