Dundee Assembly of God Worship God. Love People. Reach Our Community. What We Believe

WE BELIEVE...
the Bible, is the infallible, authoritative rule of faith and conduct.

WE BELIEVE...
there is only one true God - revealed in three persons... Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (commonly known as the Trinity). WE BELIEVE...
in the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ. As God's son Jesus was both human and divine. WE BELIEVE...
though originally good, man willingly fell to sin - ushering evil and death, both physical and spiritual, into the world. WE BELIEVE...
every person can

have restored fellowship with God by trusting Christ, through faith and repentance, to be their personal Savior. WE BELIEVE...
and practice two ordinances: (1) water baptism by immersion after repenting of one's sins and receiving Christ's gift of salvation, and (2) communion (the Lord's Supper) as a symbolic remembrance of Christ's suffering and death for our salvation. WE BELIEVE...
the baptism in the Holy Spirit is a special experience following salvation that empowers believers for witnessing and effective service, just as it did in New Testament times. WE BELIEVE...
sanctification initially occurs at salvation and is not only a declaration that a believer is holy, but also a progressive lifelong process of separating from evil as believers continually draw closer to God and become more Christ-like. WE BELIEVE...
the Church has a mission to seek and save all who are lost in sin. We believe 'the Church' is the Body of Christ and consists of the people who, throughout time, have accepted God's offer of redemption through the sacrificial death of His son Jesus Christ. WE BELIEVE...
divine healing of the sick is a privilege for Christians today and is provided for because of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. WE BELIEVE...
in The Blessed Hope - when Jesus returns for His Church. At this future moment in time all believers who are alive will be caught up in the air to be with the Lord forever. WE BELIEVE...
a final judgment will take place for those who have rejected Christ. They will be judged for their sin and consigned to eternal punishment in a literal hell that the Bible calls The Lake of Fire. WE BELIEVE...
and look forward to the perfect New Heavens and a New Earth that Christ is preparing for all people, of all time, who have accepted Him. We will live and dwell with Him there forever. 'And so shall we forever be with the Lord!'

In John 14:18, Christ provides an assurance of relational continuity to His disciples on the eve of His crucifixion. This promise, "I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you" reaches its full realization in the outpouring of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. Jesus does not leave His followers in a state of spiritual bereavement or powerlessness. Rather, His physical departure facilitates a new, internal dimension of divine intimacy. Through the Comforter, the ascended Lord returns to dwell inside the believer, transforming what was once an external companionship into an abiding, spiritual reality. Thus, the "coming" Christ speaks of is immediately and continuously fulfilled through the personal presence of the Holy Spirit within the Church.

Furthermore, the metaphor of the "orphan" underscores the vulnerability and isolation the disciples feared, which stands in sharp contrast to the spiritual adoption and empowerment provided by the Spirit. This promise is a tangible reality characterized by the manifest power and comfort of God. By refusing to leave His Church orphaned, Christ ensures that believers are never left to navigate the world in their own fractured strength. Instead, they are continuously infused with the vitality of the Holy Ghost, establishing an unbroken, supernatural fellowship that sustains and empowers the body of Christ until His final return.

Exodus 14:14 stands as a paradigm of divine intervention, capturing the critical juncture where human limitation intersects with absolute sovereign power. Trapped between the advancing Egyptian chariots and the impassable waters of the Red Sea, Israel’s command to "be still" is a deliberate posture of faith-filled surrender. From a Pentecostal perspective, this stillness represents the deliberate cessation of carnal striving and the silencing of human anxiety to make room for the supernatural demonstration of the Holy Spirit. It is an acknowledgment that when believers reach the absolute end of natural possibilities, they must stand anchored in the expectant confidence that God’s miraculous deliverance is about to manifest.

The declaration that "the Lord will fight for you" underscores the reality of spiritual warfare and the breakthrough power inherent in the character of God. This passage affirms that God is an active combatant on behalf of His covenant people, deploying divine power to shatter spiritual oppression and strongholds. True spiritual victory is achieved not through human might or strategic ingenuity, but by the direct, dynamic operation of the Spirit of God. Consequently, Exodus 14:14 serves as an enduring promise that when the church aligns itself in quiet, faithful obedience, the Lord sovereignly executes deliverance, parting the seemingly insurmountable seas of impossibility and vindicating His people through His glorious power.

In Galatians 4:6, the Apostle Paul articulates a foundational Spirit-centered truth: the indwelling of the Holy Spirit is the definitive marker of divine sonship and covenant adoption. Paul emphasizes that the transition from spiritual bo***ge to divine inheritance is achieved when God dispatches "the Spirit of his Son into our hearts." This highlights that the believer's relationship with the Father is sustained by an active, internal, and divine agent. The Spirit is recognized as a tangible, personal reality who seals the believer, bearing witness to their new identity and establishing a living communion that transcends cold ritualism.

Furthermore, the text underscores the expressive and relational dimensions of Pentecostal spirituality through the internal prompting of the Spirit who "calls out, 'Abba, Father.'" This vocalization, rooted in a term of deep familial intimacy, is treated as an unmediated, supernatural utterance initiated by the Holy Spirit. This highlights the conviction that authentic prayer and worship are fundamentally Spirit-led, engaging the affective and vocal faculties of the believer. The cry of "Abba" functions as both an immediate psychological assurance of God’s paternal care and a manifest demonstration of the Spirit's active presence, confirming that the fullness of the Christian life involves a dynamic, vocalized relationship with the Creator.

Psalm 91:4 stands as a declaration of the dual nature of divine protection, beautifully balancing tender intimacy with unyielding defense. The imagery of being covered with feathers and finding refuge under His wings is a description of the experiential presence of the Holy Spirit. For the believer, this sanctuary represents the tangible, indwelling presence of God that provides immediate comfort and emotional sanctuary in times of spiritual warfare or earthly distress. It emphasizes a dynamic, relational intimacy where the believer actively runs to the shadow of the Almighty, finding a sanctuary that is empowered and sustained by the comforting ministry of the Holy Spirit.

Concurrently, the passage transitions from the maternal imagery of wings to the militant security of a "shield and wall," signifying that God’s faithfulness is an active, defensive armor. This faithfulness is weaponized through the Word of God and the shield of faith, serving as an absolute barrier against the fiery darts of the adversary. The "wall" (often translated as a buckler or rampart) implies an all-encompassing, surrounding fortress that leaves no vulnerability exposed. Therefore, this verse assures the believer that the same Holy Spirit who provides a tender, comforting refuge also equips them with supernatural, unshakeable protection, ensuring that divine truth and covenant faithfulness secure their ultimate victory over every spiritual onslaught.
