We are looking for the right preacher.
The 6th & Meredith church of Christ, in Dumas, Texas, is looking for a preacher who will work to edify the local church and work within our community to spread the gospel of Christ.
We are conservative, non-instrumental and non-institutional.
We are the only English speaking non-institutional congregation in Moore County. Our membership is diverse. Attendance currently runs in the 50s with several young singles, married couples with newborn, young, and teenage children, and those who are older. Membership varies from those who are new converts to those who are more mature in the faith. Our brethren love each other, love the Lord and are interested in growing in the faith and sharing the faith with others.
We can provide full support for the preacher coming to work with us.
Our congregation loves good sound gospel preaching and the preachers who preach it. We currently have gospel meetings every two months.
Also meeting in our building is an autonomous Spanish speaking congregation that has a full-time Spanish speaking preacher. We help provide his financial support.
Dumas is an excellent community to live in with about 15,000 people. It is known for its people being friendly and welcoming. It is in the heart of the Texas Panhandle which is the most conservative area of the conservative state of Texas.
Dumas is about 1 ½ hours from the beautiful Palo Duro Canyon, the 2nd largest canyon in North America and only 3 hours from the beautiful Rocky Mountains. Two major U.S. Highways, 87/287 (scheduled to become Interstate), connect us to within 1 ½ to 2 hours to New Mexico, Colorado, Oklahoma and Kansas. The Rick Husband International Airport in Amarillo provides convenient travel to all the major airports with the major airlines.
Dumas has two campuses of Amarillo College providing comprehensive higher education, including university-transfer degrees, career and technical training, allied health programs including the R.N. degree, and continuing education. Tuition is extremely inexpensive, including the QUEST program which pays for up to the first 66 college hours for Dumas High School graduates.
Our public schools are excellent. The High School’s Career & Technical Education facility, the Intermediate School and Elementary schools are of new construction and state of the art.
Dumas has an excellent hospital and healthcare system with a number of specialists. In addition, it is about 45 miles north of Amarillo which has major hospital systems, specialized care facilities, a VA hospital with a five-star CMS rating, and a branch of Texas Tech Medical School.
Dumas is very economically and ethnically diverse with a Valero refinery, a Carbon Black plant, JBS plant, oil & gas, farming & ranching, and a very diverse mixture of smaller industries providing excellent employment opportunities for our population and growth as a community.
