We're launching a new series called "Mantras" this Sunday. They can ground us, prompt us, inspire us, even transform us at times. What's a mantra that has brought you hope and belonging? See you all Sunday at 10!

UPDATE: We'll have one date for this event:
Sunday, May 31 after church

“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” — Eleanor Roosevelt

Dreams have a way of pulling us toward something more. The dream of running a 2-hour marathon. Dunking the game-winning basket. Spelling “dessert” correctly on the first try. (And yes, I absolutely nailed that one.)

Then there’s reality.

I’m probably never running a marathon again. I can’t put on my pants without sitting down. And if I serve you pie or a plate full of sand… just go with it.

Dreams are essential. So is reality. Navigating that line between hoping for more and staying grounded can be tricky. But I think it’s worth the attempt.

I’m inviting you to join me for a time of dreaming about what Neighborhood can be. What it could mean for you, for your friends, and for a whole community of people you haven’t even met yet. We all carry ideas and longings that have been quietly circling around in us. I’d love to help draw them out.

In 90 minutes, we’ll process, dream, laugh, and remind each other why we love this community.

We’d love to have you join us! Sign up here: https://neighborhoodchurchmn.org/event/neighborhood-dreams/

Evangelicals: Have you ever wondered, “Why do we actually believe being q***r is sinful?” Maybe you felt guilty just for thinking it. Because questioning the pastor, the church, or the Bible wasn’t just discouraged, it felt like cracking a door open for something dangerous. And with your eternal soul on the line, how do you honestly wrestle with questions that could cost you your friendships, your family, maybe even your income?

You are in good company.

What you’re feeling is real. You’ve been rewarded for going along, for keeping things humming. What catches most of us off guard is discovering that our belonging was always conditional, predicated on silent agreement. Not questioning earned you affirmation, dinner invites, and slaps on the back.

And yet. You still have questions.

Those questions are holy. Sacred, even. And where they lead you matters just as much as the journey itself. There is more capacity to love than you’ve been handed. The fear and potential loss are real, too. I’m not going to minimize that.

Here’s what I want to offer:
A closed, private gathering to process your questions alongside others in a similar place. All those things the church, the Bible, and our leaders have handed us over the years that we might not want to carry any longer. Registration is private. The location is not public. Safety is the priority. We have several times to gather, and space is limited to ensure the quality of conversation.

Dates Available:
May 11 @ 6:30pm
May 13 @ 12:30pm (zoom)
May 16 @ 9:30am
May 18 @ 8am
May 21 @ 3pm for Pastors/Clergy only

The Gospel of Luke tells the story of a woman who pours out her own perfume on Jesus to anoint him. It is an act of worship and resistance. They go hand in hand. Jesus says that people will remember her act whenever this story is told. Yet somehow, those who kept the stories never included her name. She is told by Christ that she will never be forgotten, and the church has made sure she remains unnamed.
We have benefitted from the generous, brave work of unnamed saints for thousands of years. Many saints have been named, but infinitely more people have been left out of the conversation around their work, their art, their lives that have brought hope, liberation, and joy to us.
So we begin a new series called “Unnamed,” which centers the stories of people inspiring us today to live good and beautiful lives.
Who is an unnamed saint that you cherish? Dolly Parton? Howard Thurman? Curious George? Beyoncé? Join us this Sunday as we launch our new series, “Unnamed.”
