When you look at the state of the world today it can feel like no one is truly in control.

But the prophet Zechariah wrote something thousands of years ago that puts all of that into perspective. A day is coming when the Lord will be King over all the earth. Every nation. Every corner. All of it under his reign. Zechariah 14:9.

As Seventh-day Adventists this promise sits at the very heart of our hope. We are not waiting for things to get better on their own. We are waiting for a King to return and set everything right.

There is a difference between being given something and being entrusted with something. And Jesus makes that distinction very clear in Matthew 25.

The master did not hand his goods to his servants as owners. He entrusted them. And Pastor Andrew Korp points out that sin does something subtle but powerful to us. It causes us to start living as if we own everything in our hands.

But the truth is simple. You are not the owner. You are simply the manager.

Here is something Pastor Andrew Korp said this Sabbath that is hard to get out of your head.

We build things to sell them. That is the American dream. But God is completely different. God does not create in order to sell. He builds a world not to make his net worth higher, not to earn more income, but for the purpose of giving. For the purpose of entrusting it to us.

That changes how we look at everything we think we own.
