It’s LYO Leadership Camp week at Camp Vermilion! Full days, new friends, and growing in faith while expanding our leadership skills.

More pictures to come… But for now - a photo of the ideas our LYO youth came up with for how their congregations, our synod, and they as leaders can more fully welcome and include the LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC siblings among us. Thank you to Pastor Christina Johnson for facilitating our conversation on behalf the NEMN Synod Welcome & Reconciling Team. Her words and invitation were powerful!

Bishop Amy was with Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Baxter this morning. Erika Nilsen was installed as Senior Pastor and Sarah Marshall was installed as Associate Pastor. It was also Pollinator Sunday and we were all reminded that we are care takers of God’s creation and we all plant seeds of God’s love in the world.

Presiding Bishop Yehiel Curry has issued his first in a series of monthly messages that will continue through the end of this year under the title "All Together in One Place."

Each message will share a pastoral word, rooted in Scripture, that witnesses to God’s presence today, our rich theological tradition and the social teaching that connects us.

Your amazing NEMN Synod “assembly quilters” gathered at the office today for lunch and review of the quilt auction at Synod Assembly in April. Great conversation, laughter, and ideas were shared. Pastors Rollie & Taryn (not pictured) were grateful for the invite to join them!

We thank God for the steady hands and sewing machines of these fine leaders (and for their techy-in-residence Bob;) With the help of quilters from around the synod, they have raised thousands of dollars for ELCA World Hunger year after year. Help us thank them for their faithful ministry! 🧵🪡 🍱 💙

On Saturday, the Northeastern Minnesota Synod, hosted a Godly Play Core Training at Grace Lutheran Church in Hermantown. Our wonderful trainer Joy Studer, led us through various Bible stories, teaching participants how to tell the stories in interactive yet contemplative ways, especially with children and youth. It was a wonderful day, also gathering with several of our Episcopal, UCC, and UMC sisters.

Godly Play is rooted in story, wonder, liturgy, discovery and joy as children seek and find the mystery of God's presence. To learn more about Godly Play and the possibility of bringing it to your congregation, visit godlyplayfoundation.org.
