We will have a "Pick Up" Installation Choir. Rehearsal is at 1:00pm in the sanctuary. The Prelude Music begins at 1:45pm. The service is at 2:00pm, followed by a reception.

Here’s the gifted group of leaders who will facilitate our conversation around what makes for a “quality call” at Fall Leadership Gathering next week. These leaders attended the ELCA Region 3 gathering in January for female identifying and non-binary rostered ministers, supported by the Quality of Call initiative of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. We are grateful for their leadership and for accompanying our pastors, deacons, and SAMs as together we explore our own sense of call and how the Holy Spirit is drawing us deeper into it.

Bishop Taryn had the great joy of attending the installation of Bishop Lisa Lewton in the Western North Dakota Synod - ELCA, in Dickinson today. Bishop Lisa and Bishop Taryn were first call pastors together in the WND Synod. A beautiful day for the church!

And y’all – Presiding Bishop Yehiel Curry hit out of the park with his sermon. So good! Come hear him preach and celebrate with Bishop Taryn a her installation - our NEMN installation - on September 12th at First Lutheran Church, in Duluth. Are all welcome!

Communities in Nepal are facing catastrophic loss after deadly, devastating floods. On Aug. 26, powerful floodwaters carrying glacial ice and mud swept down the Himalayas through a mountain valley. Hundreds of people have died, and hundreds more remain missing as families are waiting for news of loved ones. Homes have been destroyed, roads and bridges are gone, and entire communities are struggling to access basic necessities.

Our hearts break for all those affected.

Even with limited communication from the affected area, we are already hearing tragic stories of loss, and we know the needs will be significant. Lutheran Disaster Response has long-standing relationships with trusted partners throughout Nepal. With your help, we will support emergency relief and long-term recovery through these established partners who know their communities best.

Thank you to master woodworkers Bob Murray (Messiah Lutheran, Mt Iron) and Paul Ronning (Our Saviors, Hibbing) for designing and creating a brand new crozier for Bishop Taryn Montgomery. It’s beautiful! A blend of maple and purple heart woods. Bob will present this to Bishop Taryn during her installation service on September 12th at First Lutheran Church in Duluth. All are welcome!

The NEMN Synod Staff had a wonderful inaugural staff retreat earlier this week at Camp House of Water's Edge Ministries near Brimson, MN. We enjoyed teambuilding with Ronda, conversations around the table with Gretchen and Lindsey, worship, and getting to know each other better as we lean into our team approach to ministry.

To top it off, we got to visit Pastor Anna, David, and Karl of Karl’s Wheelhouse and The Spent Dandelion Retreat Center in Two Harbors. 

What a gift to visit these partners in ministry and wonder how God might be inviting us into deeper relationship with each other and for the greater good of the gospel.
