If you are reading this message, that means at some point in some shape way or form you have made a connection with Newman Catholic Campus Ministries at UMD. We are so blessed and so grateful to have you as a part of the family! As you may or may not know, Newman Catholic Campus Ministries is a non-profit organization with a mission of inviting students on campus who have not encountered Christ to become disciples of Jesus and to inspire and equip His disciples to become Apostles in the Church and throughout the world! This THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 13TH, we are inviting you to take part in another opportunity to help bring this mission to its full fruition.

This THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 13TH, Newman Catholic Campus Ministries is once again taking part in a fundraising effort called "Give to the Max" Day. From Midnight until 11:59PM on Thursday, donations as small as $10 and as large as thousands will be collected by using the website below. What's different about this fundraiser is that in addition to those donations collected, there will also be opportunities for Newman to receive FREE grants that will be given throughout the day! Every hour, two donors are randomly selected to receive a golden ticket, where $2,000 is added to their donation — one to a nonprofit, one to a school. That means someone who donates the minimum of $10 could turn that into $2,000. At the end of the day, two donations of $20,000 will be awarded to two organizations through a random drawing. If you are not able to make it to the website to make the donation during the day on Thursday but still want to support us, you can still do so by going to the website below between now and 11:59PM on Thursday and scheduling your donation!

We also want to just say thank you to all of you for taking part in and supporting the ministry in whatever ways you have. Whether it was actually being present in the day-to-day workings on campus, or by helping support the ministry through monetary donations, but also and MOST importantly, for helping support the ministry with spiritual donations, i.e. your prayers. We FULLY understand that not everyone is able to give a monetary donation. The full fruition of this ministry requires students' hearts to be open to His mercy and grace in Him calling them into a deeper relationship with Him. Your prayers help them to hear and to know His voice. From the very bottom of our hearts, we all THANK YOU for that! Know that all of you continue to be included in our daily prayers, offerings, and sufferings as well!

Chances are many of us getting ready this morning for the first day of classes looked a bit like this.

Why not ease into things a bit? Meet us at the Newman House at 7:45am Monday through Friday for what's called a Holy Hour, an hour of quiet prayer with Jesus exposed in the Eucharist! Whether you can be there for the whole hour or only 15 minutes, He will still meet you there. As Father Mike encouraged us this past weekend, make a decision:

"Saint Bernard tells us that everything has come to us through Mary; and we may also say that everything has come to us through the priest; yes, all happiness, all heavenly graces, all heavenly gifts. If we had not the Sacrament of Orders, we should not have Our Lord. Who placed Him there, in that tabernacle? It was the priest. Who was it that received your soul, on its entrance into life? The priest. Who nourishes it, to give it strength to make its pilgrimage? The priest. Who will prepare it to appear before God, by washing that soul, for the last time, in the blood of Jesus Christ? The priest - always the priest. And if that soul comes to the point of death, who will raise it up, who will restore it to calmness and peace? Again the priest. You cannot recall one single blessing from God without finding, side by side with this recollection, the image of the priest." St. John Marie Vianney

Please take some time to offer some prayers of thanksgiving for our very own Father Mike Schmitz as he prepares to renew his vows at the Chrism Mass this evening!!
