Many people try to cherry pick Ezekiel 16:49 to claim that the sin of S***m was only pride, laziness, and neglecting the poor.

But they stop reading before the next verse.

God did not merely say S***m was proud.

God also said:

“And they were haughty, and committed abomination before me” (Ezekiel 16:50).

The Bible tells us exactly what that abomination was:

“If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination” (Leviticus 20:13).

The very word “sodomy” is derived from the name S***m because the city became so strongly associated with this sin throughout history.

The sin of S***m was not one sin. It was a city filled with pride, rebellion, wickedness, sexual immorality, and abomination before God.

People today celebrate what God condemned.

They call it pride.

God called it abomination.

The answer is not to celebrate sin.

The answer is repentance.

Jesus warned:

“Except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish” (Luke 13:3).

God’s mercy is available to all who repent, but His standard has never changed.

Repent and believe the gospel.

The Pharisees were not condemned because they lacked religion.

They were condemned because they were hypocrites.

They honored God with their lips while their hearts were far from Him.

Modern Christianity is filled with people who claim to love Jesus, carry a Bible, wear a cross, go to church, and call themselves Christians, yet continue living in sin without repentance.

Many profess Christ with their mouth while denying Him by their lifestyle.

Jesus repeatedly rebuked the Pharisees because they appeared righteous outwardly but were full of hypocrisy and sin inwardly.

God is not impressed by religious appearances.

He looks at the heart.

A profession of faith without obedience is worthless.

Wearing a cross necklace does not save you.

Reading the Bible does not save you.

Calling yourself a Christian does not save you.

Truly believing in Jesus saves you, and those who truly believe obey Him.

Jesus said:

“If ye love me, keep my commandments” (John 14:15).

“He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me” (John 14:21).

“He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings” (John 14:24).

Those who love Jesus obey Him. Those who do not obey Him do not love Him.

True faith produces obedience.
True repentance produces change.
True salvation produces fruit.

Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.

Do not merely profess Christ.

Truly follow Him.

Many people spend hours every week training their body, but never spend time training themselves unto godliness.

They count calories.
They track workouts.
They build muscle.
They improve their physical health.

But what about their spiritual health?

The Bible says:

“Exercise thyself rather unto godliness.”

There is nothing wrong with taking care of your body. But a fit body cannot save your soul.

You can have muscles and still be spiritually weak.

You can have a beach body and still be unprepared to meet God.

Physical training has value for this life, but godliness has value for both this life and the life to come.

Most people are far more concerned about how they look on the outside than who they are on the inside.

Train your body. It profits a little.

But do not neglect your soul.

Exercise yourself unto godliness.

People celebrate what God calls a lustful abomination and call it love.

The world says:
“Love is love.”
“God accepts me as I am.”
“I was born this way.”

But Jesus said:
“Ye must be born again” (John 3:3).

No one can excuse their sin by saying, “I was born this way.” We were all born as innocent babies, grew up facing temptation, and chose sin. We are all responsible for our actions and must repent and be born again by the Spirit of God.

The gospel is not about affirming people in their sin. The gospel is about repentance, transformation, and becoming a new creation in Christ.

God does not call people to celebrate their sin.

He calls them to repent.

Jesus warned:
“Except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish” (Luke 13:3).

No sin is too great for God’s mercy, but no sin is exempt from God’s call to repentance.

The good news is not that God leaves sinners as they are.

The good news is that God can change them.

Repent and believe the gospel.

Many people have been taught a lie that if they simply believe in Jesus, they are automatically saved no matter how they live.

But Jesus never taught that a profession of faith without obedience saves.

Jesus warned that many people would call Him “Lord” and still be rejected because they lived in disobedience and practiced iniquity (Matthew 7:21–23, Luke 13:23–28).

A pastor cannot save you.
A church cannot save you.
A religious label cannot save you.

Saving faith does not just profess Christ.
Saving faith follows and obeys Christ.

The question is not whether you claim to know Jesus.

The question is whether Jesus knows you.

Those who truly know Him obey Him, love Him, and keep His commandments.

John 14:15 KJV
If ye love me, keep my commandments.

1 John 2:3-4 KJV
And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

God does not accept you just the way you are in your wicked ways.

He calls you to repent, turn from sin, and be transformed.

God does not receive you just so you can remain the same.

He will take you as you are, but He will not leave you as you are.

The Bible says God hates all workers of iniquity (Psalm 5:5), and told rebellious people that He would stop loving them (Hosea 9:15).

False teachers distort God’s love by telling people:
“God loves and accepts everyone no matter what.”
“Don’t judge.”
“Love is love.”
“You can live however you want and still go to heaven.”

But the Bible warns about false teachers who tell wicked people that God delights in them while they continue living in evil. By giving them false assurance and promising them life, they strengthen the hands of the wicked so they never turn from their sin (Malachi 2:17, Ezekiel 13:22).

They preach a false love that never confronts sin,
never warns about judgment,
never calls for repentance,
and never tells people to deny themselves and follow Christ.

The love of God does not encourage rebellion against Him.

Jesus did not die so people could comfortably remain in sin. He died to save people from sin and transform them into new creations.

A gospel that tells sinners to stay comfortable in their wickedness and remain the same is the devil’s gospel. The true gospel saves and transforms sinners into saints.

Following Christ is not a comfortable path. It is a narrow way.

Real Christians will be misunderstood,
mocked,
slandered,
rejected,
betrayed,
and hated for standing for truth.

Jesus never promised His followers popularity with the world. He warned that His people would suffer persecution for His name’s sake.

A soldier does not quit the battle just because it becomes painful.

The Bible says:
“Endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ” (2 Timothy 2:3).

Many people want the crown, but they do not want the cross.
They want heaven, but not holiness.
They want blessings, but not endurance.

But true followers of Christ remain faithful through suffering, persecution, temptation, trials, and rejection.

Do not let hardship pull you away from God.
Endure to the end like a faithful soldier of Christ.

Satan rarely destroys people by forcing them into obvious evil immediately.

He distracts them.

He baits people with the temporary pleasures of this world:
money,
lust,
fame,
relationships,
vanity,
entertainment,
success,
partying,
comfort,
and sin.

Little by little, people become so consumed with chasing the world that they stop seeking God.

Jesus warned that many would be “choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life” (Luke 8:14).

That is exactly what Satan wants:
a distracted,
lukewarm,
worldly generation too entertained, addicted, busy, and obsessed with temporary pleasure to care about eternity.

The devil does not care if you become rich, famous, successful, or popular if he can keep your soul far from God.

“What shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” (Mark 8:36)

Do not let the temporary pleasures of this world cost you your eternal soul.

Not everyone who claims to follow God actually follows Him. Some are true sheep, and some are goats.

Many people love arguing, twisting Scripture, defending false doctrine, promoting man-made traditions, and causing division while refusing correction from God’s word.

Many of them cherry-pick verses out of context to justify their sin while ignoring the verses that rebuke, convict, and expose them. They cling to man-made traditions and teachings while rejecting the truth of God’s word.

The Bible does not tell Christians to endlessly argue with stubborn heretics and false teachers.

It says:
“Reject.”
“Avoid them.”
“Leave them alone.”

After warning someone once or twice, if they continue rejecting truth, stop wasting time arguing with them.

Jesus rebuked religious people who put the traditions and teachings of men above the word of God.

Many people care more about defending their denomination, traditions, feelings, and favorite teachers than obeying Scripture.

Stand for truth.
Warn them.
Reject false doctrine.
Avoid those who continually twist God’s word and refuse correction.
