Good Friday Worship | Today, April 3 at 6:30PM—
Good Friday is the day the church remembers the death of Jesus Christ on the cross. Though the name may seem surprising, “good” reflects the outcome of that dark day. Through the suffering and death of Jesus, God accomplished our salvation.

In our Good Friday service, we will follow the story of the cross through Scripture, including John’s account of Jesus’ death, and reflect on what his sacrifice has accomplished for us. As we’ve seen in Hebrews, Christ is our great High Priest who has offered himself once for all, securing an eternal redemption and opening the way for us to draw near to God. Through Scripture, prayer, and song, we will remember that what appeared to be weakness was in fact the power of God to save.

We invite you to come and enter into this solemn and meaningful time together as we fix our eyes on Christ and the cross.

Holy Week begins with Palm Sunday, when Jesus entered Jerusalem to shouts of “Hosanna,” welcomed as a king. This year we will continue our Palm Sunday tradition of beginning with a children’s processional, echoing the crowds who welcomed Jesus into Jerusalem. As we sing “All Glory, Laud and Honor” we will join their ancient song of praise—culminating in a “Hosanna” refrain.

The word Hosanna originally means “save us, we pray,” a cry for deliverance, but it became a shout of joyful expectation as God’s people looked for salvation to come. In these opening moments of Holy Week, we hold both meanings together, crying out for mercy and lifting our voices in praise to the King who has come to save.
