Do you know of a gravesite without a headstone......

Each grave in the cemetery must have a headstone, so it will be marked. If you have a loved one buried at Mt. View Cemetery, please take care of this as soon as possible. It doesn't have to be a large marker. A small flat stone with name, birth date, and death days is sufficient.

If there is no stone, we have no way of knowing if anyone has been buried there or who it may be.

PLEASE READ!

Well folks, it's grass mowing time! We are reaching out to our families asking for everyone to stop by and tidy up your loved ones gravesites. In order to keep tall grass from growing in front or around your headstones, please remove any decor that is sitting in the grass.

We would like to welcome Gray's Restoration and Preservation . They are expanding their business and will be mowing the cemetery this year. After the wonderful job they did repairing and cleaning the headstones, we know they will do a wonderful job keeping the cemetery looking beautiful.

If you are in need of a headstone or have engraving needs for one, they will begin providing those services as well.

Gray's Restoration and Preservation has completed their work. We appreciate all the hard work that was put into revitalizing the cemetery! They did a wonderful job!

Gray's Restoration and Preservation is still hard at work!

Here's a series of pictures of Mrs. Maggie Owen's headstone. Over time, the concrete foundation had completely rolled sideways! Thanks guys for straightening and leveling up her headstone!

Gray's Preservation & Restoration has worked through a third of the cemetery, leveling 150 stones. Work will continue until the entire cemetery is completed.

We were discussing the amount of history contained in the cemetery. For example, Mr. George King fought in the Spanish American War. We also have headstones of those who have fought in the Civil War, as well as WWI, WWII, Korea, & Vietnam. It is an honor to take care of those who have fought for our country, along with all of the families that are laid to rest at Mt. View.

This really is major undertaking and we appreciate any financial support you may be able to give toward the restoration and preservation of the cemetery.

Work continues on the cemetery! So far 51 headstones have been repaired and/or leveled. This is less than half of the old section. So there is still lots more to do!

The plan is to do the repairs and then back fill around the stones. After all of the repairs, then they will clean the headstones.

If you think that leveling and repairing gravestones is easy work, think again! Look at how far they had to dig down on this one stone to level it. Almost every headstone today has had a deep base of concrete so far.

News from the Cemetery Committee!

Dear Families,

We are in the planning stages of hiring Gray's Restoration & Preservation to begin work on the older section of the graveyard. Any headstones that are in need of cleaning, repair, and/or leveling will be taken care of. He will begin in the older section closest to the church and work his way back to complete about 2/3rd's of the section. So if you happen to be in the graveyard or driving by, you may see him working. Please stop by and thank him!

Other improvement plans are to have the graveyard road sealed and we are currently having some much needed bush hogging done near the interstate side.

We are excited about having this work completed in order to preserve Mt. View's graveyard. If you would like to make a donation in memory of a loved one to help offset this cost, please feel free to mail your donation to 6714 Dunkard Rd, Dublin VA 24084.

Our Homecoming Service will be held on September 7th and we will be celebrating 140 years of worship! See the attached flyer that contains all the information you need in order to come and worship with us during Homecoming!
