T.J. has been with us for 7 months!

Hi! My name is T.J., I am 41 years old, and I'm from Shreveport, LA. My childhood was great, I couldn't have asked for better parents. They supported me through everything. I started smoking and doing drugs as a teenager. As an adult, I became addicted to methamphetamines, I just wanted to be numb to the world. I was in and out of jail, hurting everyone around me, including my daughter. The last time I went, I found God in a jail cell. I prayed to God to help me restore my relationship with my daughter. I asked Him to not let me miss her walking across the stage at her high school graduation. God answered my prayers and sent me to LAATC. He has restored my sobriety, my family, and everything in my life I had lost. LAATC has connected me with the Lord, forming an unbreakable relationship with Him and my daughter. To top that off, on May 16, 2026, I watched my daughter walk across the stage. For that, I am grateful to God and to LAATC.

Neil has been with us for nearly 9 months!

My name is Neil, I’m 44 years old, and I am from Shreveport, LA. I have four children. I got involved with drugs at a young age, and although I thought I had successfully managed my habits for many years, my divorce in 2013 sent me over the edge. I was on a downward spiral, I fell into a deep depression and began to look for comfort wherever I could find it. I started self-medicating and eventually became an IV user, which made everything worse. I was in and out of jail and rehab for years before coming to find Jesus Christ. Now my life has meaning and purpose. I hope to work for the program that has helped save my life. My goal is to become a substance abuse counselor so I can help others like me who have suffered from depression and addiction.
