“As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

Whoever speaks, is to do so as one who is speaking the utterances of God; whoever serves is to do so as one who is serving by the strength which God supplies; so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belongs the glory and dominion forever and ever.

Don’t dilute your strength on fortune-hunting women, promiscuous women who shipwreck leaders."

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭31‬:‭2‬ ‭MSG‬‬

Well, it seems Solomon didn't always follow his own teaching.

Or maybe this is his advice, looking through the rear view mirror. He had gathered hundreds of wives and concubines, of which some were, no doubt, fortune-hunting and promiscuous.

In either case, let's guard our marriages. Let's cherish our wives. Don't dilute your strength.

The single among us must be wise about how we relate to women. Don't dilute your strength.

“Do not rejoice when your enemy falls, And do not let your heart be glad when he stumbles; Or the Lord will see it and be displeased, And turn His anger away from him.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭24‬:‭17‬-‭18‬ ‭

"Oh yeah, he got his." When we find ourselves reveling in the misfortune of others, we put ourselves in a foolish position.

If you think you have no enemies, you're either naive or deceived.

Even more, it seems the Lord can become so displeased with our attitude and arrogance, He will reverse the situation of our enemy, showing him favor instead of failure.

Let's guard our attitudes, even with those who oppose us, seeking the Lord's best for all, even for those who hate us.

This attitude pleases the Lord and furthers His purposes.

“Wisdom is in the presence of the one who has understanding, But the eyes of a fool are on the ends of the earth.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭17‬:‭24‬ ‭

The issue addressed in this proverb is one of perception.

Wisdom lies at the feet of both the fool and the person of understanding. The fool simply cannot see it because he's expecting answers to come from somewhere on the horizon or even further from him.

The person of understanding has better vision. He can see the horizon clearly, but he also senses the wisdom in his presence.

Let's be men of understanding. Let's cultivate wise perception; possessing both a global vision as well as clearly seeing the people, opportunities, challenges, and wisdom right at our feet.

“The wages of the righteous is life, The income of the wicked, punishment.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭10‬:‭16‬ ‭

We who have received the imputed righteousness of Christ and walk in His ways earn a tremendous compensation - life!

A friend of mine says, "Watch for the Lord to pay you in ways better than money." I suppose this is what he means. A righteous lifestyle earns life as its wage.

Inversely, the lifestyle of the wicked results ultimately in punishment. Payday is painful for them.

As in our work, we don't get paid at the beginning of the pay period, wages are disbursed at the end.

The wages of righteous and wickedness are neither apparent early in the process, but when payday arrives, they are obvious to everyone.

Let's be men who live in the righteousness given us in Christ Jesus.
