Our Bible Buddies have officially found their homes!
Yesterday, our kids had the opportunity to adopt a sweet Bible Buddy, give their new friend a name, and take them home for a very special mission … helping them grow in the habit of spending time with God!

Each day, our kids are encouraged to grab their Bible Buddy, open their Bible, read (or have someone read to them!), and spend a little time talking to Jesus. Their Buddy is there to remind them that time with God is the best part of every day!

And guess what?! It’s NOT too late for your kiddo to adopt a Bible Buddy! If your kiddo missed Church yesterday, we still have Buddies waiting for their forever homes!

But adoption day was only the beginning…
We have LOTS of adventures, surprises, challenges, special days, and fun planned for our Bible Buddies this year! You never know where these little guys might show up next! :D

Our first Bible Buddy Challenge will be announced Wednesday morning!

Kids, don't forget...
Read with them.
Pray with them.
Take them on adventures.
And most importantly, let them remind you to keep growing closer to Jesus!

As a new school year begins, we can think of no better way to start than with prayer.

Tomorrow evening, Wednesday, August 19th at 6:30 PM, Drexel First Church of God invites our entire community to join us for a Prayer Walk around Drexel Elementary School and the Drexel Fairgrounds.

We’ll walk together and pray for our students, teachers, staff, administrators, bus drivers, families, and our entire Drexel community asking God for His protection, wisdom, strength, peace, and blessing in the year ahead.

You don’t have to be a member of our church. You don’t have to be a parent or have a child at the school. If you love this community, come pray with us!
Meet us at Drexel Elementary School!

Come as you are. Bring the kids. Bring a friend. Bring your walking shoes. And most importantly, bring a heart ready to pray.

"The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective." James 5:16

Drexel, let’s cover our schools and our community in prayer! Please share this post and help us invite our neighbors!

5 Things You May Have Never Noticed About Nicodemus' Visit with Jesus

Nicodemus wasn't just another curious bystander .. he was one of Israel's most respected teachers of the Scriptures. Yet when he came to Jesus at night, everything he thought he knew was challenged.

1. He came at night. Maybe out of fear, maybe because he had questions he couldn't ask publicly. John also uses "darkness" to symbolize spiritual confusion. Nicodemus came in the dark... but he wouldn't stay there.

2. Jesus told the most religious man in Israel, "You must be born again." Knowledge, position, and good works couldn't save him. If Nicodemus needed new life through Christ, so do we.

3. Nicodemus completely misunderstood Jesus at first. He thought Jesus meant another physical birth. Jesus was talking about a new birth through the Holy Spirit.. a transformed heart.

4. Their private conversation gave us the world's most famous verse. Right in the middle of this discussion, Jesus spoke these incredible words to Nicodemus:

"For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16

5. Nicodemus' story didn't end that night. He first came with questions. Later, he defended Jesus. Then finally, after the crucifixion, he boldly helped prepare Jesus' body for burial with an extravagant gift fit for a King, bringing 75 lb of myrrh and aloes..

What started as a quiet, nighttime conversation became a life transformed.
Maybe you have questions. Maybe you're still searching. Take heart, friend, Jesus welcomed Nicodemus, and He welcomes everyone who comes seeking the truth.

Curiosity can become faith... and faith can transform everything.

This is what we are studying tonight in our Children's Ministry! We will start in about 15 minutes! We would love to have you there.

Happy Independence Day!

We're thankful for the freedoms we enjoy as Americans. We honor those who have sacrificed to protect those freedoms and pray God's blessing on our nation.

But as we celebrate this week, we're reminded that there is an even greater freedom; one that no government can give and no circumstance can take away.

The greatest freedom is found in Jesus Christ.

"It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery." Galatians 5:1

Because of Jesus, we are free from the guilt of sin, free from the fear of death, and free to live with hope, purpose, and joy.

As you celebrate with family, fireworks, and food today, take a moment to thank God for both the blessings of our nation and the eternal freedom found only in Christ.

Happy Fourth of July! ❤️🤍💙

I am a few weeks behind, but I'd like to officially introduce our new Family Life Pastor at Drexel First Church of God, Pastor Cheryl Ingram.

I have known Pastor Cheryl for the past 13 years from my time in Alabama, and I truly believe she is going to be an incredible addition to the ministry here at Drexel First Church of God. Pastor Cheryl has been in ministry for 18 years, and for the last 8 years she served on staff at Riverchase Community Church in Birmingham, Alabama, where she served as Youth and Children’s Pastor as well as Associate Pastor. Prior to my coming to North Carolina, I had the privilege of serving alongside Pastor Cheryl on various committees and ministry boards in Alabama, and I cannot think of a better person to help deepen the spiritual lives of the children and youth of our church and community. She loves the Lord, and she loves people, and it is evident in everything she does.

Pastor Cheryl and Jason have two children, Maggie, who is currently enrolled at the United States Naval Academy, and Asher, who is set to attend Drexel Elementary in the Fall. They are excited about planting roots in Drexel, and cannot wait to meet you!

We are excited about what God has in store for this next season of ministry and for the families of our church and community! If you are looking for a church home or a place where your children can grow spiritually in a safe, loving, and Christ-centered environment, we would love to have you join us. On Sunday mornings, we offer Sunday School for all ages beginning at 9:30 AM, as well as Children’s Church during the sermon portion of our worship service, which starts at 10:30 AM. On Wednesday nights, we offer Bible study classes for children ages 3 and up beginning at 6:30 PM upstairs, while adults gather at the same time for an in-depth Bible study through the Gospel of Mark.

God is doing great things in Drexel!

Pastor Josh
