Today, we honor the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Charles McCollum, former pastor of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

Fifty years ago, Rev. Dr. McCollum faithfully served as pastor during a historic season in the life of our church, leading Pleasant Grove Baptist Church as it celebrated 100 years of ministry — a remarkable milestone that stands as a testament to God’s faithfulness and his dedicated leadership. His service, vision, and commitment helped shape the foundation upon which our church continues to stand today.

We are deeply grateful for his years of leadership, his spiritual guidance, and the lasting impact he made on the Pleasant Grove church family and community.

On behalf of Pastor Terrance J. Gregory and the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church family, we extend our heartfelt prayers and deepest condolences to the McCollum family and all who were blessed by his life and ministry. May God comfort you with His peace and surround you with His everlasting love during this time.

From the Pastor’s Desk

With a heavy heart, I share the transition from labor to reward of Mother Ann Giles. She was truly full of life and blessed all who knew her with a contagious smile. Mother Giles served Pleasant Grove faithfully as a member of the choir and as chairperson of the Hospitality Ministry for many years, until relocating to Port Richey, Florida. She was always willing to lend a helping hand and was indeed the rock of her family.

In July 2024, Mother Giles was named as one of the Mothers of our church. That same month, I had the privilege of visiting with her in Florida. She welcomed me with her radiant smile, and together we reminisced with pictures and videos of her years of dedicated service at Pleasant Grove.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. Her absence will surely be felt, but her legacy of faith and service will live on in our hearts. Let us continue to pray for the Giles family in this season of bereavement. Funeral arrangements are pending at this time.

The Life and Legacy Celebration for Trustee Clyde Dennis Artis will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 7300 Southampton Pkwy, Drewryville, VA. Services are entrusted to Engram Funeral Home of Franklin.

Please keep Sis. Gayle Artis and the entire family in your prayers during this time of bereavement. May God’s peace and strength be with them.
