August 9th, 2026 Celebration with Peace Award Sunday!!

Pebble Hill Interfaith Church of Doylestown will be presenting the Harold and Alma Abel Peace Award on Sunday, August 9th, 2026 to Kevin Aster Young at the Sunday morning celebration at 10:30 AM. Rev. Gary Culp, visiting former Coordinating Minister of Pebble Hill Interfaith Church, will be presenting the Peace Award to Kevin, orginated during his tenure in 1985. The award recognizes individuals who embody the spirit of peace and social justice and actively work towards a more harmonious world within their communities and beyond.
Kevin Aster Young is a Bucks County, PA-based artist, educator, and activist. He is best recognized for his community-based artwork celebrating Black history and his former role as co-founder and co-lead of the Bucks County Anti-Racism Coalition. A breakdown of his professional and community biography includes:
Community Activism: He served as a co-founder and co-lead for the Bucks County Anti-Racism Coalition and co-founded Doylestown Youth4Unity. He has organized and spoken at various local political, social justice, and voter registration rallies across the suburbs of Philadelphia.
Public Art & Advocacy: In 2025, he collaborated with 16 different local organizations and faith institutions to create a giant, interactive artwork depicting the Juneteenth flag. Titled “Forward Backward Together Forward (160 Years),” the piece was notably displayed at Doylestown’s Mercer Museum during its Juneteenth celebration. After the event, the artwork has been showcased at Pebble Hill Church in Doylestown on a temporary basis. Young is working on finding a permanent home for the piece.
Young has stated, art, to him, “plays an important role in remembering history in a ‘visceral’ way, especially the history of slavery and Black Americans’ struggle for racial justice and racial equity in the United States”.

Pebble Hill Sunday Celebration, July 5th

We are honored to have Doreen Stratton join us for the Sunday Celebration at Pebble Hill Interfaith Church on July 5th to share with us the concept of Sankofa, a word in the Akan language of Ghana meaning “to retrieve”. Sankofa is often associated with the proverb, “Se wo were fi na wosankofa a yenkyi,” which translates as: It is not wrong to go back for that which you have forgotten.” We can certainly all learn from this concept and proverb. Let’s hear what she has to say.

Doreen made a career in the fields of government defense, the space industry, and video games (Atari) and has devoted herself to her family and to activism and volunteerism in her community. She has been named the 2026 recipient of the Bucks County Women’s History Month Award. A sojourn to Ghana in 1999 was a return to the land of her ancestors. It was a wish completed and open a door to spread the message of culture, ancestry, and history.

June 28 Sunday Celebration with Melissa Ann - Sound Healing, Somatic Awareness, and Embodiment

Join Melissa Ann for an interactive morning of sound, somatic awareness, and embodied self-exploration.
Melissa is a Licensed Professional Counselor, trauma-informed therapist, Advanced Trauma-Sensitive Yoga Instructor, and holistic wellness practitioner. Her work is rooted in compassion, nervous system healing, and the belief in each person’s innate capacity for growth, resilience, and transformation.
This experiential offering invites participants to slow down, create space within, and explore the bridge between inner and outer worlds through vibration, breath, and presence.
Participants will be guided through an immersive journey using:
Planetary Tuning Forks — cultivating presence through vibration and embodied listening
Shruti Box & Vocal Resonance — using humming and voice as a bridge into inner awareness
Heart-Centered Somatic Meditation — breath, body awareness, and reflection for self-compassion and authenticity
Chakra Singing Bowls — sound immersion for nervous system regulation, balance, and integration
This space gently supports the acknowledgment of the parts of ourselves often held beneath overwhelm or conditioning, allowing for deeper self-understanding, self-love, and personal sovereignty.
The tending begins within. As above, so below. Inner worlds, outer worlds.

Spirituality and Politics:
Six Conversations Toward Deep Democracy

Does spirituality belong in politics? More importantly, does political discourse have a place in spiritual communities?

Presented at Pebble Hill Interfaith Church, this presentation is more dialog than lecture. It will be a testament to how any ideology untethered from the heart sometimes becomes pathology.

Michael Shoeman, Ministry Candidate through the Eighth Flame Fellowship, will engage the congregation in six “mini-conversations”: Appreciation, Possibility, Invitation, Dissent, Response-ability and Commitment.

In observance of Juneteenth, Michael will gently offer up the qualities of white supremacy culture and what European Americans can do to provide safer, trauma-informed environments. Perhaps those uncomfortable conversations about politics and religion no longer need to be swept under the rug as we take a closer look at the cultural conditioning which often informs our political and religious discourse.
