Doylestown Friends Meeting

Doylestown Friends Meeting Quaker meeting in Doylestown, Bucks County, Pennsylvania The central belief of Quakers is that there is a spark of the Divine in every person. for Worship.

Located in the heart of Bucks County, Doylestown Friends Meeting is a vibrant, open and affirming Quaker community, worshipping together since 1806. From that concept flows the traditional Quaker concerns for nonviolent conflict resolution, respect for each human being, and everyone’s ability to have a direct, living relationship with the Divine. Quakers also strive for peace and equality for all.

To that end, we are active in social justice issues on local, regional, national and global levels. Come join us Sundays 10-11 A.M. Children's program runs 10:15-11 A.M. All are welcome.

Join Pastoral Concerns for a Fifth Sunday Forum on May 31 at 11:30 am. Please note the date change for this month.

We will delve into Faith and Practice — the guidebook used by Quaker Meetings that outlines Quaker beliefs, values, decision-making processes, and community practices — to learn more about clearness committees, life cycles including steps to become a member of Meeting, the importance of Business Meeting, and the testimony of Simplicity.

"Faith and Practice" is a guide for Quakers: “These things we do not lay upon you as a rule or form to walk by, but that all with the measure of the light which is pure and holy may be guided, and so in the light walking and abiding these may be fulfilled in the Spirit,--not from the letter, for the letter killeth, but the Spirit giveth life." ~Meeting of Elders, England,1656.

There are many urgent needs in our world today, but some feel foundational. The ongoing harm done to Native peoples, rooted in the very land we live on and the air we breathe, is a history our country has never fully faced.

As Quakers, we are beginning to reckon with our own participation in this harm, particularly through the Boarding School system. Acknowledgment matters, but it cannot be the end of the story. The question before us is what actions will we take?

Please mark your calendar to stay after Meeting for Worship on the last Sunday in January, the 25th, or join us for the Forum at 11:30 a.m. if you are unable to attend the full morning. This is an invitation to listen, learn, and take first steps together.
