Monday Moment of Meditation
Happy New Year! Have you ever noticed how much people enjoy celebrating the changing from one year to the next? There are parties and people spend days or weeks wishing one another a “Happy New Year!” We make plans for how the next year will be better than the last and how we are going to make plans to do or be better. To sum it all up, the new year brings hope. Hope is not just wishing things were better or dreaming of how you want them to be. Hope comes with expectation. Hope means we see the outcome as within our grasp.
As Christians, we carry the hope spending eternity in Heaven with Jesus. We have this expectation by trusting in the promises that He made and submitting to His commands that we find in the Bible. Jesus and His promises are the reason for the hope within us.
"But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:" (1 Peter 3:15)
That same hope not only drives us to follow the Bible. It is what holds us close to Jesus when the world gets tough and the storms of life come. The anchor does not mean that we do not feel the waves. It means that we will not be blown off our desired path. It gives us something to hang on to.
"Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil;" (Hebrews 6:19)
We wish you the best that 2023 has to offer. If you are looking to have a closer walk with God in 2023, come and see us. We would love to help with that. Happy New Year!
