Good afternoon, everyone. It is Good Friday! A day we call good not because of the evil the Jewish authorities and Rome did to our Lord, but because of the Lord's sacrifice. Christ laid down His life on that cross to show us the love of God. He paid our penalty upon that cross.
Good Friday is good because now we have peace with God; we have been reconciled to Him on that wooden cross. Good Friday is good because we have been saved from sin and its penalty everlasting death. It is because of that old blood-stained cross that we have everlasting life.
Good Friday is good because it reveals to us that God can turn the greatest evil in this world into the greatest act of love. Let us be thankful to God today for the old rugged cross that once was a symbol of shame but is now the symbol of the greatness of the Lord.
