A Scout is Reverent... Happy Eid Al-Fitr to everyone celebrating today! Share to your units, leaders, families & tag someone in this to wish them Happy Eid Al-Fitr.
No matter your faith or belief, being open to learning about others faith starts at no better time than now. And yes, you can respect your beliefs while respecting others. I am not Muslim by faith or culture, but I have quite a few scouts in both my Girl Scouts Nation's Capital Girl Scouts Troop & Boy Scouts of America Scouts BSA troop & Cub Scouts Pack in National Capital Area Council, BSA that are Muslim in faith or culture. What is important is to let them know & honour their faith & tradition in the way we do ours. We are after all! ❤
So my are the scouts around the world who are celebrating Eid-Al-Fitr today & tomorrow. Eid-Al-Fitr is the end of Ramadan.
At Eid-Al-Fitr, it is actually forbidden to fast, unlike during Ramadan. And people ask for forgiveness from those that they have intentionally or unintentionally not kept in touch with, done wrong to, & so forth. They give back & to the needy as well.
While I am not Muslim, the idea to be able to start this week off by contacting some people to set the path forward on the right now is a great one. In fact, I will act on it today before I lay my head down.
You can learn more about Eid-Al-Fitr & how it's celebrated around the world here since I am new at learning all this → https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eid_al-Fitr
You finish off by saying "Eid Mubarak" which is to ask & give blessings on those around you, in the same way that many do around Christmas time & New Years, etc.
