Celebrate Recovery Dowagiac

Celebrate Recovery Dowagiac Celebrate Recovery meets @ 6:30pm Saturday evenings at Federated Covenant Church on 202 Center St, Dowagiac,MI 49047

A Christ centered program that gives people the resources and relationships to help recover from life's hurts, habits, and hang-ups. This is a program for anyone struggling with past or current dysfunctions or compulsions, whether they are affecting their own life or the lives of those around them. The purpose of Celebrate Recovery is to fellowship and celebrate God's healing power in our lives th

rough the Eight Recovery Principles found in the Beatitudes and Christ-Centered Twelve Steps. As we progress through the program we discover our personal, loving and forgiving Higher Power Jesus Christ, the one and only true Higher Power. You may be thinking that recovery is just for those with alcohol or drug problems. Only about one-third of the people attending Celebrate Recovery are dealing with chemical dependencies. As Pastor Rick Warren says, “We all have sinned, we’ve all fallen short, we’ve all been hurt, and we’ve all hurt others. Everybody needs recovery.” All of life’s hurts, habits, and hang-ups are addressed through this one curriculum. A hurt, habit, or hang-up is something that hinders your walk with God. Healing is available through applying the principles of a Bible based recovery process to our lives

Brad West is a changed man, but it has been more than a decade of working on himself every day to become the best version of who he can be in life.

West, through racing, is leading a chance for many to overcome challenges. Celebrate Recovery Dowagiac , in Dowagiac, MI, is a church where people have come together to overcome hurts, habits, and hang-ups. For some in the church, they could be on a path of recovery from alcohol or drugs which is about 1/3rd of the members. For others, it could be to recover from other sins and harmful life choices. Whatever it may be, many of their paths have merged together and found their way as a group to the local short tracks through Recovery Racing.

West's journey in racing is deep---he's had family in the local race scene before, especially in Thunder Valley at M-40 Speedway, and in the demolition derby arena across area fairs. After a life of challenges, he took steps to work through his recovery, and in 2022 he took part in his first ever Night of Destruction in Northwest Indiana. It was there an entire group of fans cheered on West, and he picked up his first win that night.

Over the years, West's group has grown to feature several cars and racers. Each member has their own story---a history to share and lessons learned from the adversity they have faced. Together through their 12 Step program, they learn to heal and love themselves, and they are accountable to each other as they make life changes. The team is a true leader and role model in taking control of life---change can be difficult, especially life changes, but hard things can be accomplished and overcome. It's not easy, and they know their path will come with bumps in the road.

The team has picked up several wins in the Night of Destruction scene at Hartford, Kalamazoo, and M-40. They also compete in many Enduro races and county fair demolition derby events.

Through God, Country, and Racing, one step at a time, Brad West and his team are making a positive impact on their life and in their community.
