This coming Sunday is Trinity Sunday. Trinity is the only major day named for a doctrine rather than a New Testament event.

During the Reformation, Protestants cleared the church calendar of the numerous saints' days that had accumulated throughout the Middle Ages. The Church of England retained some, which John Wesley had removed for his Sunday Service of the Methodists, saying: "Most of the holy-days (so called) are omitted, as at present answering no valuable end"

Despite being a 12th-century addition, Trinity Sunday persists. Half of the church year is traditionally counted as Sundays after Trinity until Advent begins a new liturgical year.

The grand hymn 'Holy, Holy, Holy!' was written specifically for Trinity Sunday and will be sung in churches around the world—including Lane's Chapel. Join us!
