Talk about a "happy camper"! With her parents' permission, we are sharing this photo from Camp Yolijwa of our dear friend Kala Shaner, who is clearly having a blast this week at Camp Hope. She looks forward to this week every year. Thanks to all who sponsored her fundraising for their walk-a-thon. Please pray for a blessed and impactful rest of the week for Kala and our other brothers and sisters up there. Photo credit to the Doubling Gap, Camp Yolijwa page.

The summer camping season at Yolijwa continues next week with Youth Camp, followed by other grade camps, wilderness camps, Family Camp, Adult Fellowship, and even parent/child camps. As a reminder, Friendship sponsors every child or adult who attends a summer camp with at least 50% of the cost, if you let us know. This is our investment in the discipling of future generations! If you have any questions about it, ask our pastors!

Foundations - The Afterlife

"See, I will create new heavens and a new earth. The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind" ~ Isaiah 65:17

What things do you hope will be included in heaven if you have surrendered to Jesus Christ as Lord and believe you will live there eternally when this life is over? Are you hoping to see your parents and grandparents? Looking forward to playing golf on the most beautiful courses where three-putts are impossible, because there is no more pain? Expecting endless beaches and crystal clear blue waters? Maybe you hope heaven is loaded with your favorite food and drink, and maybe, life is good enough here that you hope it doesn't change one bit. Have you ever thought about the silliness of some of these statements? We've all had these thoughts because eternity is somewhat of a mystery to us. When we just don't know something or can't comprehend it, we return to what we do know and try to apply it in some way to what we don't. This week at Friendship, we will conclude our Foundations series by looking at the foundation of "The Afterlife". This is one area where we must accept that the best we can do is read God's Word and entrust our thoughts to Him. We ought not attempt to apply our limited, worldly understanding to something that is out of this world. If God is truly making something new, be assured that it will be so much better than the current product that "the former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind". Join us for this important message that will help true believers look forward with joyful anticipation, as well as remind us that heaven is not a guarantee for all people, which means we have work to do!

We invite you to come and worship with us at any of our weekend services, which are Saturday at 6:00 p.m. and Sunday at 9:00 and 10:45 a.m. You will be blessed!

Foundations - Freedom

"You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love" ~ Galatians 5:13

We were all meant to be free, even from the very beginning. Paul is writing to believers in Galatia who have found their freedom from the slavery of sin in Christ Jesus and His sacrifice, but his statement "you were called to be free" would apply to all human beings. Nobody is called into slavery or captivity. When God created Adam and put him in the Garden of Eden, one of the first things He told him was that he was FREE to eat from any tree in the garden. In other words, he didn't earn freedom or have it given by some government. He was endowed with it by his Creator. Yet, God gave Adam a command to keep him from becoming a slave to sin. When Adam and his wife disobeyed, they learned that freedom to choose did not mean freedom from consequences. Likewise, we must know that our freedom in Christ does not grant us the opportunity to disobey Him without consequence. This week at Friendship, we will talk about the foundation of "Freedom". As we remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom here in this country, we also remember the One who made an even greater sacrifice for our eternal freedom - Jesus. Join us for this important reminder of the origin of our freedom and what we must do with it!

We invite you to come and worship with us at any of our weekend services, which are Saturday at 6:00 p.m. and Sunday at 9:00 and 10:45 a.m. You will be blessed!

Foundations - Reconciliation

"But we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found" ~ Luke 15:32

What pleasure it brings our God to see one of His beloved returning to Him! You probably know a bit about the prodigal son. He's one of the primary characters in a parable told by Jesus to demonstrate the love of the Father and the lengths to which He will go to welcome and celebrate the one who turns away from the world, repents, and comes back to Him. The story reminds us that no matter how far into our sins we have gone, reconciliation with God is still possible as long as we're breathing. But it requires us to lose something. To accept the reconciliation that God provides, we must do the hard thing and leave whatever or whoever was previously our hope. The wasteful son put his hope in wild living, but it left him alone and desperate. His choice to acknowledge his sin and return to the Father allowed him to receive reconciliation. This week at Friendship, we will talk about the foundation of "Reconciliation" and what it requires of us. There is the issue of peace with God and the issue of peace with one another. Biblically speaking, you can't have one without the other. Join us to hear more about how they are related in our lives.

We will also be celebrating the Lord's Supper at all three services. As a reminder, all who have accepted Jesus Christ as Savior and surrendered to Him as Lord are welcome at His table!

We invite you to come and worship with us at any of our weekend services, which are Saturday at 6:00 p.m. and Sunday at 9:00 and 10:45 a.m. You will be blessed!

Foundations - Forgiveness

"You, Lord, are forgiving and good, abounding in love to all who call to you. Hear my prayer, Lord; listen to my cry for mercy" ~ Psalm 86:5-6

David prayed to God for mercy because He knew something about God's nature, that while He deals in truth, He also deals in compassion, grace, and forgiveness. This has been part of God's nature since before the creation of the world, since He is unchanging. God knew long before we started sinning that He had a desire to forgive us, if we'd only humble ourselves and turn toward Him. Yet, so many people do just the opposite and try to look for it within themselves. They talk about the need to "forgive themselves" before they even ask God for forgiveness. Do you realize that forgiving yourself is never mentioned in Scripture and actually isn't even possible? You can choose to let go of the past or move on from your mistakes, but only God can wipe your slate clean in heaven. This week at Friendship, we'll look into the foundation of "Forgiveness", which then leads to our responsibility to repent of our sins and also forgive those who harm us. Since every single one of us deals with having to forgive others, this is a message you don't want to miss.
We invite you to come and worship with us at any of our weekend services, which are Saturday at 6:00 p.m. and Sunday at 9:00 and 10:45 a.m. You will be blessed!
