Dover Federated Church

Dover Federated Church In essentials, unity; in opinions, liberty; in all things, love. In the substitutional atonement of the Lord Jesus Christ.

We believe:

There is only one living and true God revealed in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, the same in substance, equal in power and glory. In only one condition of salvation: faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, manifested in a godly sorrow for sin and a godly life. In the personal abiding of the Holy Spirit in every believer. That the Word of God, as contained in the Scripture

s of the Old and New Testaments, is the one rule of doctrine and duty, the only inspired and infallible guide. In one day of judgment for all mankind, with its eternal rewards according to the deeds done in the body. In one universal church of God, embracing all who are united to Christ by saving faith and divine grace. There are two sacraments, Baptism and the Lord's Supper, which are observed by all Christians.

Summer has begun for the youth & children. Keep them in prayers for God's guidance, and safe travels for those who are going to camp at Kansas Bible Camp (KBC). It is a great experience for them, and ran on a donation basis.

Pastor Bob turns to his alter ego this morning as he delves into a sermon of Learning from the Super Heroes - "Superman - Citizen from Another World". Parallels are drawn between concepts of being from 2 worlds, both with Jesus' life and our Christian lives.
- How are we to live in 2 kingdoms?
- 1st - Remember your identity n Christ (Philippians 3:20)
- 2nd - Keep Looking up (Colossians 3:1-2)

May God pour his blessings onto the graduates and their families - reinforcing his promises to them - he will never leave them nor foresake them.

Pastor Bob continues a journey through Colossians with today's installment of "Putting Sin to Death" - focus verses Col 3:5-7. Within this list are things that you need to kill (and continue to kill). How to kill them?
1) Understand God's view of sin.
2) Understand God's view of the Christian and sin. You once walked in these things and you don't forget these habits easily, if at all.
3) Understand your part in holiness.

What a blessing to have growing families!

Today Pastor Bob continues in Colossians with a sermon titled "Our Foundation for Christian Living". Key verses are Colossians 3:1-4. Started with a review of the problem of Legalism (Col 2:16-17). If not legalism (rules, regulations), then what are we to be doing?

Our foundation is our relationship with Christ (Col 3:1-4). We have salvation past, present and future. We were given:
- 1. a new heart
- 2. a new identity
- 3. a new life
- 4. a fresh start with Christ (Col 2:13)

What a refreshing spring day. The Gideons gave a presentation today. They are an association of Christian business and professional men called to win others for Jesus as they strengthen one another, spread the Gospel, and share God's Word in unique areas. One way they accomplish this is through giving out Bibles. Their website provides additional testimonials, information, and ways to donate: https://gideons.org/

In today's sermon, Pastor Bob continued last week's sermon regarding legalism. Today's sermon focused on Colossians 2:9-10, and was titled "Chris is All, He Is All You Need". Going to church, following man-made rules, etc... are not what save you. Christ is all you need.

Additional verses referenced included: Colossians 2:8-15, 2 Corinthians 4:4, and Colossians 1:13-14.

A couple of key points:
- Legalism is a spiritual illness
- Legalism measures spiritual life on the basis of outward standards of conduct.
- Legalism is substituting my works for Gods finished work.
- Legalism leads to pride and bo***ge

Welcome to fellowship with us today. Pastor Bob's sermon is on "Lying Lips, Wandering Hearts", focusing on Isaiah 29:13. One of the concepts discussed is "Superficial Worship vs Genuine Devotion".
- Why does the heart matter?
1. God seeks relationship, not empty ritual
2. Internal transformation leads to genuine outward action.
