Today we recognize Juneteenth, a day that commemorates June 19, 1865, when news of emancipation finally reached enslaved African Americans in Texas more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued.

Juneteenth stands as a powerful reminder of freedom, perseverance, and the enduring hope of those who longed to see justice fulfilled. As we reflect on this important moment in our nation's history, we honor the lives, stories, and legacy of those who endured the injustice of slavery and rejoice in the freedom that was proclaimed.

Today, we remember, reflect, and give thanks for the freedoms we enjoy while continuing to seek God's wisdom, grace, and unity in our communities.
