As search and rescue efforts continue and damage assessments begin, UMCOR continues to support Conference Disaster Response Coordinators after yesterday’s devastating tornadoes. Solidarity grants to provide immediate funding are being released and UMCOR will be working with impacted areas to journey from the chaos of response on through long term recovery.

Please continue to hold victims, survivors and relief workers in your prayers and make a gift to UMCOR’s U.S. Disaster Response and Recovery Fund at https://umcmission.org/advance-project/901670/.

WOW! What a wonderful morning! We got to serve 390 children from Douglas County families at the 7th Annual Operation Christmas.
We were blessed to serve a light breakfast and the ability to sit with our guests, provide a guided shopping experience for the parents, crafts and movies for the children, gift wrap stations, prayer room, and a visit from Santa!
So many thank you's due!
Thank you to the many volunteers who came out to serve from our community and church!
Thank you to our local Scouting Troup!
Thank you to our many area, and project servant leaders!
Thank you to many of you for your donations, and to the ones for their countless hours of service behind the scenes to make this BIG day so amazing!

SERVE: Operation Christmas Douglas County

About Operation Christmas Douglas County:
On Saturday, December 11th, we again have the opportunity to join with our community and city (other churches, community and civic organizations, and private citizens) to ensure that every child in Douglas County has a gift to open on Christmas Day. The program has served over 36,000 children in the last four years at numerous venues.

Operation Christmas serves Douglas County children who:
• receive free and reduced price meals at school
• are homeless
• are in the Head Start program
• receive WIC or other services at the Douglas County Health Department

We slow down FIA during Operation Christmas (you may not know we do both) because we are so busy, but when a mom coming out of a homeless shelter into housing with four children sleeping on the floor reached out to us, we simply could not say no. This family might be your neighbors. Rarely do we know someone's whole story enough to make a final judgment. What we do know is these kids slept in their beds last night instead of on the floor.

Dear Douglasville First United Methodist Church family & friends - All Hands On Deck: it's that wonderful time of year. Time for our annual loading of the Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child cartons from DFUMC's Drop Off Collection Center.
Join in THIS Sunday at 12 noon in Patricia Tidwell Hall (PTH, aka the Journey Worship space)! Even if you can't help load, come out and Pray over these boxes that bless children and share the LOVE & JOY of Jesus around the world!
We could use some cheerleaders too!
