The readings for 10/16
Jeremiah 17-18
Psalm 118:25-29
Proverbs 27:13
1 Thess 3:1-13

Jeremiah 17:7-10 “Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, And whose hope is the LORD. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, Which spreads out its roots by the river, And will not fear when heat comes; But its leaf will be green, And will not be anxious in the year of drought, Nor will cease from yielding fruit. The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it? I, the LORD, search the heart, I test the mind, Even to give every man according to his ways, According to the fruit of his doings.”

The Bible readings for October 9:

Jeremiah 3-4
Psalm 116:15-19
Proverbs 27:2
Philippians 4:1-23

Again, there are many excellent gems in today’s passages. But this one is a good one to remember when you need to make decisions. If you don’t find a specific answer in scripture, base your decision on this passage, and you can’t go wrong.

Philippians 4:8-9 ~ “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.”

Also, for those of you whose favorite verse is Philippians 4:13, I encourage you to read the notes on this section. In context, God gives us strength through our financial difficulties and through our financial provisions. It is not regarding our athletics or our job performance or during emotional difficulties. Remember to always read the verses surrounding a verse to be sure you have the full context.

The Bible readings for October 2:
Isaiah 55 and 56
Psalm 113:5-9
Proverbs 26:20-21
Ephesians 4:1-32

So many good passages today! Wow!

Is 55:6-7 ~ “Seek the LORD while He may be found, Call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way, And the unrighteous man his thoughts; Let him return to the LORD, And He will have mercy on him; And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon.”

Prov 26:20-21 “Where there is no wood, the fire goes out; And where there is no talebearer, strife ceases. As charcoal is to burning coals, and wood to fire, So is a contentious man to kindle strife.”

Let’s remember to seek God, and not be contentious!

And then, reread Ephesians because that was a gem also!

The Bible readings for 9/29:

Isaiah 49-50
Psalm 112:1-4
Proverbs 26:13-15
Ephesians 1:1-23

When you don’t have a specific prayer request for a loved one, try praying Ephesians 1:15-19 for them. You can’t go wrong with that!

“Therefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers: that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power”

The Bible passages for 9/27:
Isaiah 45-46
Psalm 111:1-6
Proverbs 26:10
Galatians 5:1-26

Man oh man! Such great nuggets in our readings today. But one great one is the measure of someone has actually repented and believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, fully trusting Him in all things! Go back and read Galatians 5:19-26. If you are an authentic believer/Christ-follower, the first list will be DAILY decreasing in your life while the second list will be increasing. Let’s all do an honest evaluation of our lives to be sure we are in the faith!

Scripture readings for 9/26:
Isaiah 43-44
Psalm 110:1-7
Proverbs 26:5-9
Galatians 4:1-31

Galatians 4:4-5 ~ “But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.”

God sent His Son

His son was fully man and fully God (“God in a bod”)

Jesus kept the law perfectly

Jesus died and rose again to redeem us

We who have repented and believed are now God’s children!

That’s the gospel in a nutshell, all served up on a platter in these 2 verses? Do you believe these things? If so, have you placed your trust in Jesus alone and repented of the things that kept you from Him?

The 9/25 Bible readings:
Isaiah 41-42
Psalm 109:26-31
Proverbs 26:3-4
Galatians 3:1-29

Isaiah 41:10 ~ “Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’”

This was specifically promised to Israel, but there are many verses in the New Testament that teach the same principles. God’s right hand is symbolic of His power. That’s what’s upholding us! We cannot falter with Him upholding us!

Psalm 109:14-20

Galatians 1:1-24

Galatians 1:3-5 ~ “Grace to you and peace from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.”

1. God gave Himself for our sins
2. He delivers us from evil
3. His will is for our good
4. God will be glorified forever

The 9/22 Bible readings:

Isaiah 35-36
Psalm 109:6-13
Proverbs 25:27-28
2 Corinthians 13:1-14

2 Cor 13:5 says “Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?”

If you aren’t bearing fruit and growing in righteousness, you need to check yourself to be sure you are saved. It is not enough to “believe” tha Jesus Christ exists.

The Bible readings for September 18:
Isaiah 27-28
Psalm 107:33-43
Proverbs 25:20
2 Corinthians 10:1-18

2 corinthians 10:4-5 is an excellent couple of verses to memorize. We have the ability to overcome soon. We have the ability to make every thought captive to Jesus Christ. These verses can help us do that!

When I was in high school, a great speaker, Jay Carty, spoke on these verses. It revolutionized my life. He has since gone on to be with Jesus, but his teaching stays with me even now.

The readings for 9/16:

Isaiah 23-24
Psalm 107:10-22
Proverbs 25:17
2 Corinthians 8:1-24

Psalm 107: 15 and 21: “Oh, that men would give thanks to the LORD for His goodness, And for His wonderful works to the children of men!”

When the Bible repeats something, we should take note! Gratefulness to God and His goodness is a great practice.

For what are you thankful today?

The 9/14 Bible readings:
Isaiah 19-20
Psalm 106:40-48
Proverbs 25:13
2 Corinthians 6:1-18

The marks of the ministry in 2 Corinthians 6:1-10 are not for the faint of heart. But each seemingly negative is countered with an extreme positive: honor, good report, true, well-known, alive, rejoicing, making many rich, possessing all things. It is definitely worth it!
