Quick camera update: we were finally able to get in some work between thunderstorms. Brantley and I finished the digging and set two posts yesterday. Each post has 160 pounds of concrete for the anchor. We didn't attempt the two on the bottom due to MUD. We will eventually get it all finished.

If you look closely, you can see the second post on the side of the upper road.

Update: When I made this post last weekend I had forgotten about a little procedure I had in the middle of the week that kept me off work for three days. So, I didn't get the post up as I had planned. Hopefully I can finish them this week.

Quick update on the cameras. The cameras came in this week, and I ordered the post, but they won't be available for pickup until Monday or Tuesday. I ordered them from Clear Creek Wood Products because Dan Hogan gave us a great price since they were for the cemetery.

Brantley and I went this morning and dug two of the post holes before it got too hot for the boy. 😂
Brantley is my stepson, so I gave him a hard time.

Anyway, I hope to finish the other two holes early in the morning before I go to work next week and try to get the cameras up and running by next weekend. If all goes as planned.

Security Cameras are coming soon. I will post more information in a week or so. I know a lot of people have asked about the cameras so I just wanted to let them know the first ones will be installed soon.

Something I forgot to mention. While walking through the cemetery, poisoning ants and first one thing or another before Decoration Day, we all noticed that many people had replaced their old “iron stob” markers with the correct markers and had buried them flush to the ground. We also noticed that a few footstones and headstones had been lowered to be flush with the ground.

We want to thank everyone who took the time to make the changes. It helps tremendously with groundskeeping and cuts down on confusion.

Please remember to follow up on any claims of grave sites by reporting them to a committee member so we can keep a record.

We want to thank everyone who came out to Decoration Day last week. Thank you for continuing to support the cemetery and its upkeep. Overall, things went well.

We would also like to thank the Double Springs PD for patrolling the cemetery frequently over the last week to help deter theft of flowers and other items placed on graves throughout the cemetery. All cemeteries struggle with property theft, and Fairview is no different, but it helps tremendously when they patrol the area.

We will keep you informed of any cemetery news throughout the year.

Well, I tried to post a well-thought-out, detailed post about several things, and it disappeared. So, here is a short version.

The cemetery looked great two days ago, but with recent storms and flooding, the grass will put out new growth, and the ditches and sunken places throughout the cemetery will have reappeared by Sunday. It takes seven days to mow and weed-eat Fairview Cemetery so that you can do the math. We will have note pads at the tents to record any concerns, and we will address them throughout the year.

We will install security cameras after the decoration when we take up donations. Several folks have asked about the cameras. That's when we will have the funds to do so. The cemetery operates on donations, and in recent years, we have seen a sharp decline in those donations. We do well to make it from one year to the next to pay for the cemetery's upkeep.

As you all know, Decoration is coming up on Sunday. We hope to see all of you there for a day of celebrating those who have gone before us and fellowship with those who are still here.

Also, a few people have asked about security cameras, and we are still planning to install them once the decorations are over and we have the money to purchase the rest of the equipment.
