The Episcopal Church of the Nativity The Episcopal Church is both catholic and protestant. We are catholic in that we celebrate the sacramental life and ascribe to the creeds of the ancient Church.

A Welcome from our Rector

I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the Lord
Psalm 122:1

Welcome! We are excited that you have visited our page for The Episcopal Church of the Nativity. We welcome you to worship with us any Sunday morning, or at any scheduled service. In addition the church is open during the week for prayer, rest, and meditation. Come whenever you feel the need for spiritual refreshment. We are protestant in that we believe in ongoing reform based on a reasonable interpretation and appreciation of the Holy Scripture. The Episcopal Church is a sacramental church. Our worship centers on two principal sacraments: Holy Baptism and Holy Eucharist. The Episcopal Church is a liturgical church, meaning we follow a set form of worship. Our worship is outlined in the Book of Common Prayer. Episcopalians are part of the worldwide Anglican Communion. All around the world Anglicans use a version of the Book of Common Prayer in their native language. At Nativity, this book is the red book in your pew back. The blue book in the racks is the 1982 Hymnal. When you visit our Church, please make yourself known to the ushers or clergy before or after the service if you care to do so. If we can be of any special assistance you, let us know that also. We want you to feel at home in our Church, but we do not want to intrude if you want to worship quietly and go away without giving your name. The Episcopal Church strives to live by the message of Christ, in which there are no outcasts and all are welcome. Walking a middle way between Roman Catholicism and Protestant traditions, we are a sacramental and worship-oriented church that promotes thoughtful debate about what God is calling us to do and be, as followers of Christ. The Episcopal Church has more than 2.1 million members in more than 7,600 congregations in 110 dioceses (and one similar geographic convocation) situated in countries and territories including Belgium, Germany, France, Switzerland, Italy, Haiti, Virgin Islands, Colombia, Ecuador, Dominican Republic, Honduras, Venezuela, Puerto Rico and Micronesia plus the United States. Join us on Sunday, July 5th at 10:00 AM for a special historical liturgy using the 1662 Book of Common Prayer — the worship style of our Anglican ancestors in the early days of our nation.

After the service, stay for a festive fellowship meal in the Parish Hall as we celebrate Independence Day and welcome The Rev. Deacon James Holcomb.

A heartfelt farewell to our beloved Mother Pam

This past Sunday, we gathered with grateful hearts to celebrate the ministry of Mother Pam as she concluded her time with us here at Nativity.

From the very beginning, her faithful leadership, gentle spirit, and deep love for Christ and this parish have been a true blessing to us all. Whether in worship, pastoral care, or the everyday moments of community life, she has pointed us toward Jesus and helped us grow in faith and love.

Mother Pam, thank you for pouring yourself into this congregation. We are better because you were here.

As you begin your new chapter at St. Paul’s in Mobile, please know that our prayers go with you. May God continue to bless your ministry, fill you with joy, and use you mightily in your new parish family.

We send you with love, gratitude, and the peace of Christ.

A Note from Our Children’s Choir Choirmaster

The Nativity Children’s Choir will begin its summer break following our final rehearsal on May 13. We give heartfelt thanks to all the parents who faithfully brought their children each Wednesday afternoon, on Sundays, and during our special Christmas services. Your commitment made it possible for our enthusiastic and talented young singers to fill the choir room with joy and beautiful music week after week.

As we pause for the summer, we look forward with excitement to building on this wonderful foundation and welcoming all our current choristers — and many more new voices — when we return in the Fall!
With gratitude and much love,
Debbie

What a beautiful Senior Sunday!

Thank you to everyone who filled the pews to support our graduating seniors! It was such a joy to hear Grayson Barbaree, Logan Barron, Jordan Forrester, and Sadie Wilkes preach their powerful senior sermons at the 10:30 service. Their words were heartfelt, Spirit-led, and a true blessing to our parish family.

We are so proud of these four faithful young people who have served as acolytes, grown through EYC, and blessed us in so many ways.

Nativity, you showed up with love and encouragement — that’s the Church at its best. Please keep Grayson, Logan, Jordan, and Sadie in your prayers as they step into this next exciting chapter.

With grateful hearts, we share that our beloved Curate, The Rev. Pam Christian (Mother Pam), will conclude her ministry with us on Sunday, May 17th.

Mother Pam has served our parish faithfully for several years — leading worship, nurturing ministries, and sharing in the life of our community with such joy and dedication. We will deeply miss Mother Pam, Chris, Gwen, and Dan, but we are enormously excited for the new chapter God is opening for them.

We are thrilled to announce that Mother Pam will be joining St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Mobile as their new Associate Rector!

Please join us after the 10:30 a.m. service on May 17th in the Parish Hall for a farewell lunch as we celebrate Mother Pam’s ministry and send her forth with our love and blessings. Everyone is warmly invited to come, share your stories, and express your appreciation.

Thank you, Mother Pam, for your faithful service among us. May God continue to bless you and your family richly in this next season.

Nativity EYC Throwbacks!

Swipe through these photo collages from our seniors’ very first EYC trips — Camp Butter-n-Egg, our youth retreat at Camp Beckwith and as they were confirmed into the church!

From those early adventures to serving as acolytes and growing in faith together, these four have been part of Nativity’s heart for years.

We’re so proud of the young leaders they’ve become. Come hear them preach their senior sermons this Sunday, May 10th at the 10:30 service, then join us for cake and punch in the Parish Hall!
