As we mark International Holocaust Remembrance Day we remember the millions. We also commit to never losing sight of truth, shining a light on hatred and the people who give it renewed breath. Twisted hate is alive well. May we have the resolve to see it ourselves, open the eyes of others, and unite the forces of goodness, justice and love.

I share the prayer below on this solemn day of remembrance.

————————————————————————
Loving God, we come to you with heavy hearts, remembering the six million Jewish souls murdered during the Holocaust.

In the horrors of that history, when so many groups were targeted because of their identity, and in genocides which followed, we recognise destructive prejudices that drive people apart.
Forgive us when we give space to fear, negativity and hatred of others, simply because they are different from us.

In the light of God, we see everyone as equally precious manifestations of the Divine, and can know the courage to face the darkness.
Through our prayers and actions, help us to stand together with those who are suffering, so that light may banish all darkness, love will prevail over hate and good will triumph over evil.

Amen

📌 02/15/2023 UPDATE: Deadline has been extended to Tuesday, March 28th!

Do you want $5000 for your community to do work on science and Judaism? ⚛️ ✡️ To explore topics like big bang cosmology, the science of compassion, or the way memory works? 🧐

🕍 Apply now for Scientists in Synagogues for this project funded by the John Templeton Foundation: https://sinaiandsynapses.org/scientists-in-synagogues/ 🧬

📌 The deadline is March 24th.

Scientists in Synagogues provides communities a $5000 grant, along with mentorship, guidance and connections, in order to run grass-roots programs that offer Jews opportunities to explore the most interesting and pressing questions surrounding Judaism and science. Its aim is to share how some of the most thoughtful Jewish scientists integrate their Judaism and their scientific work so that they can be role models and ambassadors for productive conversations surrounding Judaism and science.

This project is organized by Sinai and Synapses (which is incubated at Clal – The National Jewish Center for Learning and Leadership) in collaboration with the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Dialogue on Science, Ethics and Religion (DoSER), and funded by the John Templeton Foundation, as well as other individual donors.
