1 Samuel 17:34-40

The armor of God
King Saul had some doubts about David’s ability to fight the huge Philistine. David was just a boy! Yet, no one else had been willing to take on Goliath, so Saul said, ”May the Lord be with you.” Then he gave David his armor.

David put on Saul’s bronze helmet and coat of armor. Then he strapped Saul’s sword over the armor. As David walked around he realized that the armor was too heavy for him, so he took the armor off and headed down the valley without it.

How can I protect myself from the devil’s attacks?
David was about to face the fiercest warrior in the Philistine army with a stick and a sling. David didn’t need Saul’s armor because he was already wearing God’s armor. King Saul may have shaken his head in unbelief, but the battle had already been won in David’s mind.

You can also be on winning side by putting on God’s armor (Ephesians 6:14-17).

THE ARMOR OF GOD

Tie the Belt of Truth tightly around your waist so that you do not get tripped up with wrong ideas about God.

Protect your heart with the Breastplate of Righteousness; let purity and goodness guard your heart from sin.

Wear the Gospel of Peace shoes so that you can spread the Good News of God’s love everywhere.

Carry the Shield of Faith so you can stop the burning arrows of doubt and discouragement.

Put on the Helmet of Salvation, which you get when you ask Jesus to become Lord of your life.

Use the Sword of the Spirit, which is God’s Word. Use verses from the Bible to defeat your giant.

Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Ephesians 6:13

1 Samuel 17:34-40

La armadura de Dios
El rey Saúl tenía algunas dudas sobre la capacidad de David para luchar contra el enorme filisteo. ¡David era solo un niño! Sin embargo, nadie más había estado dispuesto a enfrentarse a Goliat, por lo que Saúl dijo: "Que el Señor esté contigo". Luego le dio a David su armadura.

David se puso el yelmo de bronce y la armadura de Saúl. Luego ató la espada de Saúl sobre la armadura. Mientras David caminaba, se dio cuenta de que la armadura era demasiado pesada para él, así que se la quitó y se dirigió al valle sin ella.

¿Cómo puedo protegerme de los ataques del diablo?
David estaba a punto de enfrentarse al guerrero más feroz del ejército filisteo con un palo y una honda. David no necesitaba la armadura de Saúl porque ya estaba usando la armadura de Dios. También puedes estar del lado ganador poniéndote la armadura de Dios ( Efesios 6:14-17 ).

LA ARMADURA DE DIOS

Ate el Cinturón de la Verdad firmemente alrededor de su cintura para que no se tropiece con ideas equivocadas acerca de Dios.

Protege tu corazón con la Coraza de Justicia; deja que la pureza y la bondad guarden tu corazón del pecado.

Ponte los zapatos del Evangelio de la Paz para que puedas difundir la Buena Nueva del amor de Dios por todas partes.

Lleva el Escudo de la Fe para que puedas detener las flechas ardientes de la duda y el desánimo.

Ponte el Casco de la Salvación, que obtienes cuando le pides a Jesús que se convierta en el Señor de tu vida.

Usa la Espada del Espíritu, que es la Palabra de Dios. Usa versículos de la Biblia para derrotar a tu gigante.

Por lo tanto, vístanse con toda la armadura de Dios, para que cuando llegue el día malo, puedan mantenerse firmes, y después de haber hecho todo, estar firmes. Efesios 6:13

1 Samuel 17:28-32

¡Vuelve con tus ovejas!
Cuando David escuchó a Goliat desafiar a cualquiera del ejército israelita a pelear contra él, preguntó a algunos de los hombres que estaban alrededor: "¿Qué recompensa recibirá un hombre por matar a ese filisteo?"

Eliab, el hermano mayor de David, escuchó a David preguntar por la recompensa y dijo enojado: “¿Qué haces aquí? ¿Qué pasa con las ovejas que se supone que debes cuidar? ¡Solo piensas que eres algo grande! Todo lo que quieres hacer es ver la batalla.

"¿Qué he hecho ahora?" David respondió. "Solo hice una pregunta".

Unos hombres que oyeron lo que David había dicho fueron a decírselo al rey Saúl, quien inmediatamente hizo traer a David ante él. Entonces David dijo a Saúl: “¡Nadie debe tener miedo de este filisteo! Iré y pelearé con él.”

¿Soy demasiado joven para ser útil a Dios?
David era un pastor joven. Nunca había usado armas de guerra, ¡y definitivamente no era un soldado entrenado! ¿Qué oportunidad tenía David contra el guerrero más poderoso del ejército filisteo?

Sin embargo, cuando alguien está dispuesto a confiar en Dios por su fuerza, la edad y el tamaño no importan.

Algunos pueden tratar de desanimarte de hacer lo que Dios quiere que hagas porque piensan que eres demasiado joven. Podrían decir: “Espera hasta que seas mayor y entiendas mejor las cosas”. Pero como veremos en la vida de David, Dios usa todo lo que tenemos y compensa la diferencia.

Podría recolectar cosas para las personas necesitadas o invitar a algunos amigos a explorar la Biblia. ¡Confía en Dios y Él te ayudará a conquistar gigantes!

1 Samuel 17:28-32

Go back to your sheep!
When David heard Goliath challenge anyone from the Israelite army to fight him, he asked some of the men standing around, “What reward will a man get for killing that Philistine?”

Eliab, David’s eldest brother, heard David asking about the reward and said angrily, “What are you doing here? What about the sheep you are supposed to be taking care of? You just think you’re big stuff! All you want to do is watch the battle.”

“What have I done now?” David replied. “I only asked a question.”

Some men who heard what David had said went to tell King Saul, who immediately had David brought to him. Then David said to Saul, “No one should be afraid of this Philistine! I will go and fight him.”

Am I too young to be useful to God?
David was a young shepherd. He had never used weapons of war—and he definitely wasn’t a trained soldier! What chance did David stand against the mightiest warrior in the Philistine army?

However, when someone is willing to trust God for strength, age and size don’t matter.

Some may try to discourage you from doing what God wants you to do because they think you are too young. They might say, “Wait until you are older and understand things better.” But as we will see from David’s life, God uses whatever we have and makes up the difference.

You could collect things for needy people or have some friends over to explore the Bible. Trust God, and He will help you to conquer giants!

Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity. 1 Timothy 4:12

1 Samuel 9:17 , 10:1 , 17-24

el segundo mejor de dios
Mientras el sacerdote Samuel estaba hablando con Saúl, Dios le dijo que Saúl era el que Él había escogido para ser el rey de Israel. Entonces Samuel le dijo a Saúl: “El Señor te ha elegido como gobernante de Israel. Tú gobernarás a Su pueblo y lo protegerás de sus enemigos”.

Entonces Samuel convocó al pueblo a una reunión especial y dijo; “Así dice el Señor: 'Yo soy el Señor tu Dios que te sacó de Egipto. Pero vosotros habéis apartado a vuestro Dios que os salva de todas vuestras angustias, y habéis pedido un rey.'”

Entonces Samuel escogió la tribu y la familia como Dios le indicó. Finalmente, Saulo fue elegido. Así que sacaron a Saúl al pueblo y Samuel dijo: “Aquí está el hombre que Dios ha escogido para ti”.

¿Puede una mala decisión arruinar el plan de Dios para mí?
Israel quería un rey que pudieran ver. Su fe se había vuelto tan débil que ya no confiaban en un Rey invisible. También había otra razón para querer un rey: querían ser como las otras naciones que los rodeaban. Los israelitas pensaron que un rey haría que su nación pareciera fuerte y 'con ella'.

Dios a veces nos permite tener lo que queremos si insistimos en salirnos con la nuestra. Cuando Dios ve que estamos decididos a hacer lo nuestro, nos permite aprender de nuestros errores.

Las decisiones siempre tienen consecuencias y, aunque Dios nos perdonará las malas decisiones que tomemos, los resultados y efectos de esas decisiones no desaparecerán. Por eso es tan importante tener cuidado al tomar una decisión que podría afectarlo a usted (u otros) en los años venideros. Las decisiones importantes no deben tomarse a la ligera o sin consultar a Dios.

Sin embargo, si tomas una mala decisión, Dios, que es misericordioso, encontrará la manera de seguir usándote y bendiciendo. Solo deja que Dios se salga con la suya en tu vida nuevamente.

1 Samuel 9:17, 10:1, 17-24

God’s second best
While Samuel the priest was speaking to Saul, God told him that Saul was the one He had chosen to be the king of Israel. So Samuel said to Saul, “The Lord has chosen you as ruler of Israel. You will rule His people and protect them from their enemies.”

Then Samuel called the people together for a special meeting and said; “This is what the Lord says: ‘I am the Lord your God who brought you out of Egypt. But you have pushed away your God who saves you out of all your troubles, and have asked for a king.’”

Then Samuel chose the tribe and the family as God directed him. Finally, Saul was chosen. So they brought Saul out to the people and Samuel said, “Here is the man God has chosen for you.”

Can a bad decision ruin God’s plan for me?
Israel wanted a king they could see. Their faith had become so weak that they no longer trusted in an unseen King. There was also another reason for wanting a king: they wanted to be like the other nations around them. The Israelites thought that a king would make their nation look strong and ‘with it’.

God sometimes lets us have what we want if we insist on having our own way. When God sees that we are determined to do our own thing, He lets us learn from our mistakes.

Decisions always have consequences and, while God will forgive us for the bad choices we make, the results and effects of those choices don’t go away. That is why it is so important to be careful when making a decision that could affect you (or others) for years to come. Important decisions should not be taken lightly or without asking God.

However, if you do make a bad decision, God who is merciful will find a way to keep on using you and blessing you. Just let God have His way in your life again.

Exodus 2:11-15

A false start
When Moses had grown up, he went to see his own people, the Hebrews, who were working very hard. There he saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew slave—one of his own people! Looking around, Moses saw no one watching so he killed the Egyptian and hid his body in the sand.

The next day he went out to watch the Hebrews again. This time he saw two of his own people fighting. He said to the one, “Why are you beating your fellow Hebrew?”

The man replied, “Who made you ruler over us? Are you going to kill me like you killed that Egyptian yesterday?”

Moses was afraid because he realized that someone else knew what he had done. When Pharaoh heard what Moses had done, he tried to kill him, but Moses ran away and went to live in the land of Midian.

Should we defend someone who is being bullied?
God had planned for Moses to be the leader who would free His people from slavery. The Lord made sure that Moses got the best training and education in Egypt.

One day, Moses decided that he was ready to start leading God’s people, but he messed up because he went about it the wrong way. God had not finished preparing him. Moses still needed to learn to be completely obedient and to wait for God to lead him.

It is always good to protect the weak from being teased and hurt. However, to do what Moses did is not the best way to stop a bully. It is always better to ask God for wisdom first. To help someone who is being bullied, start by staying close to him or her and be a loyal friend!

Genesis 41:37-46

What a big task!
When Joseph told the king what his dream meant and what he should do, the king said, “We will never find a better man than Joseph, who has God’s spirit in him, to take charge of the great task of collecting and storing grain during the seven years of plenty.”

Then the king said, “It is obvious that you have greater wisdom than anyone else, so I am putting you in charge of my country, Egypt. Then the king gave Joseph his very own ring and put a fine linen robe on him.

Why would God want to use me?
God sees those who are obedient to Him and who love Him. “For the eyes of the LORD range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him” (2 Chronicles 16:9).

God is looking for those who will serve Him in a humble way, not boasting in their abilities, but willing to do any task—and do it well. Joseph had to learn to do little tasks well before he was given more responsibility. Whether he found himself in prison, or being the second in charge of Egypt, he listened to God and always did his best.

God has given you special abilities, talents and spiritual gifts so that He can use you in a special way. In addition, you may have had experiences that make you unique. The things you are good at, and even those you are not so good at, help to make you all the more useful. Remember, God can use anyone who is available and has a pure heart.

“But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong” 1 Corinthians 1:27.

Génesis 41:37-46

¡Qué gran tarea!
Cuando José le dijo al rey lo que significaba su sueño y lo que debía hacer, el rey dijo: “Nunca encontraremos a un hombre mejor que José, que tiene el espíritu de Dios en él, para hacerse cargo de la gran tarea de recolectar y almacenar el grano durante los siete años de abundancia.”

Entonces el rey dijo: “Es obvio que tienes más sabiduría que nadie, así que te pongo a cargo de mi país, Egipto. Entonces el rey le dio a José su propio anillo y le puso una túnica de lino fino.

¿Por qué querría Dios usarme?
Dios ve a aquellos que le son obedientes y que lo aman. “Porque los ojos de Jehová recorren toda la tierra para fortalecer a los que tienen el corazón totalmente entregado a él” ( 2 Crónicas 16:9 ).

Dios está buscando a aquellos que le sirvan con humildad, sin jactarse de sus habilidades, sino dispuestos a hacer cualquier tarea, y hacerlo bien. Joseph tuvo que aprender a hacer pequeñas tareas mucho antes de que le dieran más responsabilidades. Ya sea que se encontrara en prisión o siendo el segundo a cargo de Egipto, escuchó a Dios y siempre hizo lo mejor que pudo.

Dios te ha dado habilidades especiales, talentos y dones espirituales para que pueda usarte de una manera especial. Además, es posible que haya tenido experiencias que lo hacen único. Las cosas en las que eres bueno, e incluso aquellas en las que no eres tan bueno, te ayudan a ser aún más útil. Recuerde, Dios puede usar a cualquiera que esté disponible y tenga un corazón puro.

Génesis 37:1-11

¡Hablando de salida!
José fue el segundo más joven de los doce hijos de Jacob. La familia se había mudado de regreso a la tierra de Canaán donde José cuidaba ovejas y cabras.

Jacob amaba a José más que a cualquiera de sus otros hijos y le dio una túnica especial. Era obvio quién era el favorito de la familia y eso ponía muy celosos a sus hermanos. Lo que hizo que los hermanos de José lo odiaran aún más es que José le contó a su padre todo lo que tramaban.

Una noche, José soñó que mientras él y sus hermanos estaban atando gavillas de trigo en el campo, su gavilla se erguía, mientras que las gavillas de sus hermanos formaban un círculo alrededor de la suya y se inclinaban ante ella. Entonces José tuvo otro sueño en el que vio el sol, la luna y once estrellas inclinarse ante él.

Cuando José les contó a sus hermanos los sueños, se enfurecieron y le preguntaron: "¿Crees que vas a ser rey y gobernar sobre nosotros?" Y odiaron aún más a José.

¿Qué tiene de malo ser el favorito?
¿Cómo te sientes cuando alguien es tratado mejor que los demás, recibiendo favores que no merece?

Tal vez seas el favorito de alguien y, si es así, generalmente hay una buena razón por la cual le gustas a la gente. ¡No hay nada de malo en ser querido! Pero los problemas surgen cuando alguien le hace favores especiales a un niño, o pasa más tiempo con un niño, solo porque ese niño es más querido que los demás.

No puedes cambiar los sentimientos de alguien hacia ti, pero puedes ser humilde y sensible sobre la forma en que eso hace sentir a los demás. Entonces, si eres favorecido, transmite la amabilidad y trata de alejarte de recibir demasiada atención.

Lucas 8:4-8, (Mateo 13:18-23)

semilla esparcida
Dondequiera que iba Jesús, de un pueblo a otro, la gente seguía viniendo para escuchar lo que tenía que decir. Una gran multitud se había reunido a su alrededor, por lo que Jesús le contó una historia a la gente para ayudarlos a entender cómo la Palabra de Dios obra en los corazones de diferentes personas.

“Un día, un agricultor fue a sembrar semillas. Mientras esparcía la semilla, parte cayó en el camino donde fue pisada, y donde las aves la comieron. Parte de la semilla cayó en terreno pedregoso. Cuando brotaron las semillas, las plantas se secaron porque la tierra estaba dura y seca. Otras semillas cayeron entre las malas hierbas, que crecieron con las plantas pequeñas y las ahogaron. Pero parte de la semilla cayó en tierra buena y fértil y se convirtió en una gran cosecha que dio cien veces más semilla de la que se plantó”.

¿Puede una semilla realmente crecer en el corazón de alguien?
La semilla de la que Jesús habló es la Palabra de Dios. La Palabra de Dios llega al corazón de las personas cuando la escuchan o leen la Biblia. El suelo se compara con el corazón de una persona.

Cuando la Palabra de Dios toca el corazón de una persona, crece a medida que la persona piensa en ella, la entiende, la cree y luego hace lo que dice.

Algunas personas no quieren escuchar la Palabra de Dios y endurecen sus corazones para que la semilla ni siquiera pueda comenzar a crecer.

Algunas personas escuchan las palabras de Jesús y creen por un tiempo, pero cuando llegan los momentos de dificultad y prueba, se dan por vencidos.

Algunas personas escuchan la Palabra, pero las preocupaciones, las riquezas y los placeres de la vida les hacen olvidar lo que escucharon.

Pero algunas personas escuchan la Palabra y hacen lo que dice. ¡Tienen un buen corazón donde las palabras de Vida crecen y se multiplican!

Luke 8:4-8, (Matthew 13:18-23)

Scattered seed
Wherever Jesus went, from one town to the next, people kept coming to hear what He had to say. A large crowd had gathered around Him, so Jesus told the people a story to help them understand how the Word of God works in the hearts of different people.

“One day, a farmer went to sow seed. As he scattered the seed, some fell on the path where it was stepped on, and where birds ate it. Some seed fell on rocky ground. When the seeds sprouted, the plants dried up because the soil was hard and dry. Other seed landed among the weeds, which grew with the small plants and choked them. But some seed fell on good, fertile soil and grew into a large crop which gave a hundred times more seed than was planted.”

Can a seed really grow in someone’s heart?
The seed that Jesus spoke of is the Word of God. God’s Word reaches the hearts of people as they hear it or as they read the Bible. The soil is compared to the heart of a person.

When God’s Word touches a person’s heart, it grows as the person thinks about it, understands it, believes it and then does what it says.

Some people don’t want to hear the Word of God and they harden their hearts so that the seed cannot even start to grow.

Some people hear the words of Jesus and believe for a while, but when times of difficulty and testing come, they give up.

Some people listen to the Word, but the worries, riches, and pleasures of life make them forget what they heard.

But some people hear the Word and do what it says. They have a good heart where the words of Life grow and multiply!

No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God's seed remains in him; he cannot go on sinning, because he has been born of God. 1 John 3:9
