The Greenwood Ministerial Association is calling on our community to act in love and with hope.

An 11-year-old Greenwood child, Cate Hargett, is a patient at St. Jude and is currently in bone marrow failure.

Doctors have identified a serious mutation, and if repeat testing confirms it, a bone marrow transplant will be her best and possibly only chance at survival.

Because of other medical conditions, Cate cannot safely receive standard chemotherapy or radiation. A matching donor is essential, and time matters.

We are urgently asking adults ages 18-35 to consider joining the bone marrow registry and coming to a simple swab event:

The process takes just minutes - a cheek swab - but the gift it represents can mean years of life for a child.

If you are unable to attend, you can still help by signing up for the registry and having a swab kit mailed directly to you. See the attached flyer for those instructions.

We ask for your prayers - for Cate, for her family, and for action.
Scripture tells us that “the life is in the blood,” and sometimes loving our neighbor means offering a part of ourselves so another may live.

Blood donation, bone marrow donation, and organ donation are among the clearest modern expressions of sacrificial love.

They are tangible ways we bear one another’s burdens and proclaim that every life is sacred.

Please share this message. Please pray. And if you are able - please come and swab.

This is how the body of Christ moves: not just in words, but in flesh, in love, and in personal sacrifice, one for the other.
