The Avenue of Flags at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery is the primary display of respect for service by our nations veterans. As you pass through the entry way of the cemetery, you are greeted by 32 U.S. Flags, 16 on each side, proudly representing our great nation.
The Sacramento Valley National Cemetery Support Committee has responsibility for maintaining this proud display.
The SVNCSC depends on donations and fundraisers in order to fulfill this obligation. All donations are appreciated.
Donations can be made by sending a check made payable to SVNCSC.

Hi All and Happy New Year!
We have one more volunteer need to finish off the 2025 year! Bough disposal day at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery is Saturday morning, January 10th, starting at 7:30 AM.

We need about 20-30 people specifically to help unload the pickups at the dumpsters; if you have a group coming that could be in charge of this task, please call 707.249.5852 as soon as possible. Park at that area upon arrival and there will be a few leaders there to direct volunteers.

Volunteers of all ages are needed for picking up the boughs/wreaths for onsite disposal at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, Saturday, January 10, starting at 7:30 AM. Bring your wagons and wheelbarrows, or dowels and work in pairs, to pick up the boughs/wreaths and move them to the curb. Volunteers with pickup trucks (and trailers) are needed to haul the boughs from curbside to dumpsters. If you're hauling, you don't even need to get out of your truck....you'll be loaded and unloaded. No signups are necessary; just show up and park nearest whichever section you’d like to help with. (In past years, this has only taken a few hours to get it all cleaned up!) Share this email with your friends!!

Note: if you’d like to keep your bough/wreath, please take it before Saturday. Event goes on, rain or shine.
Thanks to everyone for all your help and support of the 2025 Wreath Project!

For anyone new to the group, this information pertains to the bough purchasing and placement at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery. Christmas and bough placement time is coming upon us very quickly! Some important information regarding this year’s placement event is included here with volunteer needs:

Early Pick up/Placement: Attached here is the flyer with specific details regarding the early pick up/placement for those who would be interested in that. And, while we have held two very successful fundraising events this year, (many thanks to all who participated in any way to help with those!), we are still accepting donations to ensure the entire cemetery will be covered again this year. We do need to finalize our order by the end of November and accept donations year-round. Checks may be made payable to RememberAVet.net and mailed to PO Box 773, Winters, CA 95694 OR you can go online:

https://www.gofundme.com/f/2025-wreath-project-honoring-our-fallen

and contribute that way.

December Volunteer Needs: Unloading trucks - Friday, December 12th, volunteers will be needed after 3:00 PM to unload the cartons of boughs from trucks as they drive through the cemetery. Please send a text to 707.249.5852 for more instructions if you have a group that can help with this.

Bough Placement: Saturday, December 13th, volunteers of all ages are invited to help with bough placement all throughout the cemetery, starting at 7:30 AM, and continuing until completed. Follow parking instructions as provided by SVNC staff and park nearest the section you would like to help with.

NOTE: Section 5 is reserved for wreaths provided by Wreaths Across America; so that section will not have boughs available for placement. There will be a Wreaths Across America program starting at 9:00 AM and those wreaths will be placed following that program.

**Volunteers with pick up trucks or trailers will also be needed on Dec 13th to haul cardboard to on-site collection bins for disposal; this will be ongoing during the placement time and after, if needed.

January Volunteer Needs: Saturday, January 10th – Volunteers of all ages are invited to help with bough and wreath disposal, starting at 7:30 AM. Again, park nearest the section you’d like to help with and go to work! No sign-up necessary….great for fulfilling service hours! Boughs will need to be moved curbside and loaded into pick ups and trailers and hauled to on-site collection bins for disposal. We need volunteers to help move the boughs and those with pick ups and trailers to do hauling to an on-site designated area.

Many thanks to everyone for helping to support the Wreath Project by contributing and for helping to spread the word about this special community event! This is the 20th Christmas that SVNC will be honored in this way! Please share with friends, family, neighbors and co-workers! Thank you!

Sincerely,

The Stocking Family
