The Basis of kidLife Children’s Ministry is found in four scriptures:
1. Matthew 22:36 – 40 – The Great Commandment
o Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses?” Jesus replied, “‘You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourse

lf.’ The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.”

2. Matthew 28:19 – 20 – The Great Commission
o Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

3. Romans 10:13 – 15
o For “Everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved.” But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say, “How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!”

4. Romans 14:19
o So then, let us aim for harmony in the church and try to build each other up. Kid’s Church thrives to bring children into age-appropriate Worship, where they can Grow in their relationship with God, Fellowship with other believers, Reach Out to the lost and hurting, Serve others within and outside the church and feel Safe knowing that God is with them.

5 specific areas of ministry within Kid’s Church:
1. Worship – Jesus said “love the Lord your God with all your Heart, Soul and Mind.” Each Sunday morning, kids experience age-appropriate worship songs. We encourage the children to lay down the stresses of life and focus on the Lord. We also want children to live a life of Worship in all they do. We stress to them that worshipping God doesn’t just take place during worship time but in all areas of our lives. Colossians 3:23 says “work willing at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.” John 4:24 says “Your worship must engage your spirit in the pursuit of truth.”

2. Spiritual Growth and Fellowship- Jesus said “teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you.” Nothing can take the place of teaching the children the Word of God. This is accomplished in Kid’s church through the games, skits, obey lessons, videos and the sermons. Once the children pass through the double doors and into Kid’s church, they are entering into a “safe zone.” We stress each week that Kid’s church is a safe place free of gossip, cliques and criticism. The scripture says that we are to “aim for Harmony in the church and try to build each other up.”

3. Reach Out – Jesus told us to “Go and make disciples.” The book of Romans says “How can anyone believe in Jesus, if they never heard of Him.” The kids are encouraged to bring friends to all our events. Although more kids make a better time, we are not concerned with numbers. We are concerned with the kids understanding that they are missionaries to all the people they encounter. That is why it is important for them to tell their friends about their church and (most importantly) Jesus. We also provide opportunities for the children to Reach Out with the gifts that God has given them through specific outreaches to the community.

4. Service – Jesus told us to “Love your neighbor as yourself.” During Kid’s church, the 4 – 6 graders are encouraged to serve in specific areas within the ministry. It is common to see the “Student Leaders” serve as door greeters, store attendants, sound booth operators, game assistants, prayer warriors, new person leaders, and mini-preachers. As Timothy was a young preacher who greatly impacted his community, we believe these kids are powerful ministers of the Gospel and we desire that they grow and test out their gifts.

5. Security – Before Jesus ascended into heaven, He reminded His disciples “I am with you always.” We want to impart in all the kids that regardless of their situation or circumstance, God will never leave them…in fact He is always with them. They are to call out to the only Name that can Save.

Our Story

kidLife...you may be thinking we forgot to capitalize the “k.” We didn’t. We actually leave the “k” lowercase to emphasize that kidLife is a ministry for little kids but those little kids have big lives, big potential and big purpose, hence, the capitalized “L” in Life. Little kid, Big Life.

kidLife is the Children’s Ministry of Celebration Community Church in Dillsburg, PA.
