David Lynn Lade
1947 – 2025
David Lynn Lade was born on the 5th day of November, in the year of Our Lord, Jesus Christ, 1947, in Marion, KS; the sixth of ten children born to Alvin R. Lade & Florence R. (née Brestel) Lade. He was reborn into the Kingdom of God on December 1 that same year, through the Sacrament of Holy Baptism, administered by his father, The Rev. A.R. Lade, at St. John Lutheran Church, Tampa, KS. He was later confirmed in the Christian faith, on March 26, 1961, by The Rev. Lade, at Zion Lutheran Church, Ainsworth, NE. On April 2, 1967, David was received into membership at Trinity Lutheran Church, Dillsboro, IN, as his father began his ministry there.
David served his country in the United States Air Force. Following his discharge in autumn 1971, he was united in holy matrimony to Barbara Jean Niebrugge at Trinity, Dillsboro on January 15, 1972, by The Rev. Lade. Together David & Barbara had two children.
David served the Lord in his service to those around him. He was a son, brother, airman, husband, father, grandfather, uncle & friend to many. He retired as an inspector of the Indiana Department of Transportation. David was a member of the Dillsboro American Legion Post #292.
David is preceded in death by his parents, Alvin & Florence Lade, and his infant-sister, Linda Lee Lade. He is survived by Barbara Jean, his beloved wife of nearly 55 years; their son, Michael (Christy) Lade of Anderson, IN; and their daughter, Traci Young (David Brashear) of Dillsboro; also their grandchildren: Josie Lade, Ella Lade, Ava Young, and Mike Young; and his brothers & sisters: Monica (Ray) Parker, Larry (Brenda) Lade, Charles Lade, Marcus Lade, Ella (Ron) Colwell, Kathy (Dean) Cutter, Jonathan Lade, and Joy (Bob) Richards.
David heard the Word of God proclaimed to him and he participated in the sacramental life of the Church. During his illness, he appreciated the regular visits by his pastor. He last received the Body & Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ on the 8th day of October 2025, which well prepared him for his journey to Zion above. He departed this life from his home outside of Dillsboro on October 26, 2025, at the age of 77 years, 11 months and 21 days.
Visitation will be 9:00-11:00 AM, Thursday, October 30, 2025, at Trinity Lutheran Church: 9901 Central Ave, Dillsboro, IN 47018. The Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 AM. The Committal will immediately follow at Oakdale Cemetery with military rites provided by Dillsboro American Legion Post #292.
