Daily Prayer

Lord,

Don’t let my relationship with You become an outward routine. Search my heart and reveal anything that has come between us. Forgive me for the times my lips have honored You while my heart was somewhere else. Draw me close again, and help me worship You with more than words.

Amen.

Discussion of the Day

It’s possible to look close to God while our heart is far from Him.

We can sing every song, say “Amen,” attend every service, quote Scripture, and know exactly how a Christian is supposed to act—and still be spiritually distant from God.

That’s what makes this verse so convicting. God wasn’t impressed by what the people were saying because He could see what was happening in their hearts.

We sometimes worry more about whether other people think we’re faithful than whether God knows we’re faithful. We can learn the language of Christianity so well that we begin going through the motions without even realizing it.

God doesn’t just want our church attendance.
He doesn’t just want our words.
He doesn’t just want an outward appearance of Christianity.

He wants our heart.

Before we examine someone else’s worship, faithfulness, or relationship with God, we need to ask ourselves: Have I gotten good at looking close to God while slowly drifting away from Him? I love you all and have a blessed day.

Noah probably looked crazy… right up until the rain started.

Sometimes obedience to God won’t make sense to the people around you. Sometimes it may not even make complete sense to you. But Noah didn’t need everyone to understand—he simply needed to trust the One who told him to build.

Faith obeys before it sees the rain.

When God tells you to move, move.
When He tells you to wait, wait.
When He tells you to build, start building.

You may look crazy today, but obedience to God will never leave you regretting that you trusted Him.

“Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he.” — Genesis 6:22 KJV

Trust God. Obey God. Leave the results to God.

“The Lord will provide”

No matter what the need looks like today, God already sees it. Trust His timing, trust His plan, and trust His provision.

THERE IS A NEW NAME WRITTEN DOWN IN GLORY!

Not because I earned it.
Not because I deserved it.
But because Jesus saved me!

My past is forgiven.
My sins are washed away.
My name is written in Heaven.

And it’s mine — yes, it’s mine!

“Rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.” — Luke 10:20 KJV

That giant may look BIG… but your God is BIGGER.

No matter what you’re facing—fear, doubt, sickness, financial struggles, family problems, or a situation that seems impossible—remember David didn’t defeat Goliath because David was strong. He defeated him because God was with him.

Your giant may be standing in front of you, but God is already standing above it.

“The battle is the LORD’S.” — 1 Samuel 17:47 KJV

Don’t focus on the size of the giant.
Focus on the size of your God.

We can make a god out of anything.

Money. Possessions. Careers. Relationships. Sports. Politics. Even ourselves.

Anything that takes God’s rightful place in our heart can become an idol.

The question isn’t just, “Do I believe in God?”
The question is, “What has first place in my life?”

“Thou shalt have no other gods before me.” — Exodus 20:3 KJV

Don’t let the gifts God has given you become more important than the God who gave them.

We’re not going to Heaven because we’re perfect individuals. We’re going to Heaven because Jesus is perfect.

Our hope isn’t found in how good we can be, how many mistakes we can avoid, or how perfectly we can live.

Our hope is Jesus.

We fall short. He never did.
We have sinned. He was sinless.
We could never earn salvation. He paid for it.
