Finding Hope in Ruth series! Today, we dive into one of the most tender moments in the book of Ruth — when Naomi chooses to release her daughters-in-law with a blessing.

Ruth 1:8-9 (NIV) says:

"Then Naomi said to her daughters-in-law, 'Go back, each of you, to your mother’s home. May the Lord show you kindness, as you have shown kindness to your dead husbands and to me. May the Lord grant that each of you will find rest in the home of another husband.'"
Naomi’s heart was broken, but she didn’t want to hold on to her daughters-in-law out of selfishness. She recognized their kindness and wanted the best for them — even if that meant saying goodbye. It’s a reminder that sometimes love means letting go, trusting that God has something better in store for those we love.

Have you ever had to let go of someone or something you deeply cared about? Maybe it’s a relationship, a dream, or even a phase of life. Letting go isn’t easy, but it’s an act of trust. Naomi models this kind of love: releasing others into God’s care with an open heart.

When we can let go with love and trust God with the future, we free ourselves and others to walk into what God has next for us.

Action Item:
Is there someone or something you need to release to God today? Spend some time praying for them, asking God to bless and care for them as you let go.

After experiencing so much loss, Naomi and her daughters-in-law are at a crossroads. But despite everything, God begins to stir a glimmer of hope in Naomi’s heart.

Ruth 1:6-7 (NIV) says:

"When Naomi heard in Moab that the Lord had come to the aid of his people by providing food for them, she and her daughters-in-law prepared to return home from there. With her two daughters-in-law, she left the place where she had been living and set out on the road that would take them back to the land of Judah."
Even though Naomi was devastated, she heard a whisper of hope — God was bringing food back to Bethlehem. She made the decision to turn toward that hope and head back home.

When life gets overwhelming, it’s easy to stay stuck in despair. But God often calls us to turn back to Him — to walk toward hope, even if it feels like the hardest thing to do. Naomi’s journey back to Bethlehem wasn’t easy, but it was a step in the right direction.

Are you ready to turn toward hope today? Even if it feels small, taking one step forward in faith can make all the difference. Like Naomi, we can trust that God is faithful to guide us.

If you're facing difficult decisions, ask yourself: What step can you take today toward hope? Even a small move toward God is a step in the right direction
