Discussion on HOW?WHEN? With no easy answer it came down to the question asked by George Pheneger, when he challenged the group: “If we say right now that 2

weeks from Sunday we will hold our first church service and Sunday School, how many of you will be there with your children?”
A moment of silence–then all replied: “I will”

This was the moment the group stepped out in faith on a seemingly impossible task. They said when without knowing the how and where. This was the moment things started happening. On the morning of April 29th, their dream became a reality when twenty-two people organized by a commission of Brazos Presbytery. The name “The First Presbyterian Church of Dickinson,” was chosen by the congregation. Four elders were elected: Philip Frank,A.R. Pettyjohn, A.A. O’Kelly, and George Pheneger. In October 22, the three acres the church and MI Lewis Social Services now occupy were purchased and presented by the Galveston County Church Extension Committee.
