Here is part 2 of the message on perfecting holiness in the fear of God

Having an understanding of the fear of God let us move on to the second part of perfecting holiness by getting free from sin, and staying free;

For the danger of sin is real, it not only brings spiritual death into our lives but also takes us captive and makes us a slave to it.

John 8:34 Jesus replied saying I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave of sin! Now a slave has no permanent place in the family but a son belongs to it forever;

John 8:36
So if the son sets you free you will be free indeed!

Romans 6:16 (KJV) Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

When you are born again by the Holy Spirit through the blood of Jesus Christ and Jesus enters your heart, you are made a partaker of His divine nature a new creature in christ the old things the life that was before has passed away and a new life has begun, You are set free from sin. For whom the son sets free is free indeed!

But if after you are made free from sin; you are tempted to sin and yeild to it and allow it to reenter your heart; then you will be once more in bo***ge to that sin; and like the apostle Paul you will say;

Romans 7:18 (KJV) For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.Romans 7:24 (KJV) O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?

Paul went on to say I thank God through Christ Jesus; the only way to get free from sin is through the power of God; He alone is able to break the chains of sin and to subdue our iniquities;

When a child of God sins he or she is like a man who has fallen into a pit with thick mud at the bottom the side's are straight up and slick with mud with no hand holds the harder you struggle in your own strength to get free the deeper you sink; you need someone up above to let down his hand and pull you out! You need the power of God; You need to call out to jesus" and when he pulls you out of sin and sets you free again; you need to stay free;

When I was struggling to stay free from sin; Jesus gave me a revelation an understanding which gave me a complete victory over sin; and this is what he told me! He first reminded me of the scripture in

Revelation 3:20 (KJV) Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me;

He said to me my child when I first began to draw you by my Spirit and by my Word you heard my voice and responded by opening the door of your heart and yeilded to me; and I came in and set you free from sin; the door of your heart can only be opened from the inside; likewise sin can no more enter your heart except you yeild to it!

For whom the son sets free is free indeed;

to yeild" means to give the right of way to something when you yeild to sin you give it the permission to enter your heart; the problem is that many try to resist sin after they have already yeilded and become enslaved by it again" you can try quoting verses like sin shall not have dominon over me" or I take every thought captive in obedience to christ ! Those scriptures are good to keep sin out of your heart; while you are still free but if sin has been allowed back in you are captive to it and will only be frustrated trying to resist it;

You need to first pray for deliverance : then use scripture to resist sin; if you have yeilded to sin then pray something like this,

Lord jesus forgive me for I have fallen back into sin, and I am enslaved by it; I have no confidence in my flesh to overcome sin; only you can subdue my sin and set me free by your power oh lord you alone can free me from sins bo***ge set me free Lord in Jesus name;

Then stay free by
Remembering that sin brings bo***ge it enslaves you and also brings the chastisement of your heavenly father; that will motivate you to resist and not allow it back into your heart; remember the door to your heart can only be opened by you from the inside!

Also stay strong in the lord and the power of his might by walking daily in fellowship with him by putting him first every day by praying reading his word; and praising him for the victory over sin which is through the blood of Christ;

Let the first thing you reach out to in the morning not be a cell phone or TV remote but God" that is the single most important thing you can do to stay free from sin!

Lastly know this Jesus is coming very soon : and he is coming back for a church that is without spot wrinkle or blemish, a bride that has made herself white;

It is time for the church to perfect holiness in the fear of God!

Part 1 perfecting holiness in the fear of God

Good morning everyone this morning I would like to talk about the fear of the Lord; this is a message I gave recently at church, it was well-received and I think it will be a blessing to you, the bible has a great deal to say about the fear of the Lord and the benefits of being one who fears God,

Psalm 25:12-14
What man is he that feareth the Lord him shall he teach in the way that he shall choose his soul shall dwell at ease, and his seed shall inherit the earth the secret of the Lord is with them that fear Him and He will show them his Covenant.

If you fear God he will teach you his way which is the path
of righteousness He leads his children in. He sent the Holy Spirit the spirit of Truth to lead and guide us into all truth and He also said You shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.

Psalm 112
blessed is the man who fears the Lord who finds great Delight in his commands his children will be Mighty in the land. The generation of the upright will be blessed. wealth and riches are in his house and his righteousness endures forever even in darkness light
Dawns for the upright for the gracious and compassionate and righteous man.

Job 28:28
And unto man He said, behold the fear of the Lord that is wisdom and to depart from evil is understanding.

Proverbs 16:6
By mercy and truth iniquity is purged and by the fear of the Lord men depart from evil.

2nd Corinthians 7:1

Having therefore these promises dearly beloved let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the Flesh and spirit perfecting Holiness in the fear of God.

By the fear of God we both receive blessings and depart from evil and perfect holiness in that Holy fear of God; it is to view God as our heavenly father whose authority over our lives, we reverently respect and Obey knowing that correction comes to us from his hand because he loves us;

In order to get a better understanding of God as our heavenly father and how he deals with us in the matter of discipline. I want to present you;
two Earthly fathers whose approach to discipline is totally opposite in their approach.

The first father is a hard man and an angry man who takes his anger out on his children harshly slapping them down and yelling at them for any provocation without any warning and his children are terrified of him and afraid to say or do anything for fear they will provoke his anger;

Sadly there are fathers like this. And many people have the totally wrong concept of God and view him like this and this is how they imagine God when the fear of God is mentioned;

But it is very important to have the right perception of God for it will determine how you respond to God and his authority and correction in your life.

So in order to have a right understanding of the fear of the Lord I want to present a second father in the form of a little story who better reflects the character and nature of our heavenly father;

There was a father who had a young son but his job required him to work late every evening
Then one week he was given leave to work at home in his study so he was there when his son got home from school;

The boy was allowed to play for 1 hour every day after school before supper, and as he had done for a very long time he stopped at the wall in front of the house and played catch with himself by throwing a baseball against the wall bouncing it off and catching it,
He greatly enjoyed the game as it was his favorite thing to do.

So that first evening as the father sat in his study, he suddenly heard the rhythmic kathump,kathump, kathump, kathump of the ball bouncing off the wall. He looked out the window to see what the sound was and saw his son playing catch as he looked out he suddenly noticed that the yard was very narrow there! It sloped down steeply to the road, which was very busy with heavy traffic.

Just as he observed this to his dismay his son threw the ball a little bit High and it went over his head and landed on the slope and rolled swiftly into the street and out into the speeding cars.

To the fathers horror his young son chased after the ball into the busy Street the father raced from the house with the sound of screeching tires ringing in his ears. Luckily the boy was not hurt and the father brought him into the house.

Seeing the danger he forbid his son from playing there ever again and explained that he could have been killed; he then placed his son in a corner for the remaining 30 minutes of his play time and told him to think about the danger of playing there and he should never do it again.

The next day as he sat in his study the father suddenly heard the rhythmic kathump,kathump, kathump of the little boys ball striking the wall! For the boy considered that the pleasure he got from playing catch there was worth the risk of sitting in a corner for 30 minutes. But this time the father added a couple of swats just hard enough to sting and get the boys attention. And once again he told his son how dangerous it was to play there, as he made him stand in the corner.

The next day sure enough the father heard the sound of the ball kathump, kathump, kathump against the wall; the father with tears in his eyes confronted his young son and said; son I have patiently tried to get you to obey me.
but your continual Disobedience could lead to your death and I cannot allow that, because I love you too much to let that happen!

Having said that the father cut a green Willow switch from the tree in the front yard; which would not cause any lasting damage but the sting of it would set the boys rear end on fire!

The next day the boy stopped for just a moment at the wall as his hand gently rubbed his backside he said to himself no" the pleasure of playing catch here, is not worth the pain of the switch which would follow;

He had finally learned to fear and respect the authority of his father, his respect and love for his father grew tremendously that day, because he realized his father loved him to much" to allow him to continue to do something that could cause his death;

With their second father in mine let us read together Hebrews 12: 5 through verse 11;

Hebrews 12:5 (KJV) And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him:

For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.

If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?

But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.Hebrews Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?

For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness.

Hebrews 12:11 (KJV) Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.

The key verse in that scripture is at the end; it yeildeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby; we still have a free will and can choose to harden our hearts in disobedience" but the bad things which will come into our lives because of sin will be painful; and when the chastisement of the Lord gets severe enough for us to be exercised by it and like the little boy we say the pleasure that our flesh receives from this sin is not worth the pain of the switch!

which will follow in the form of the chastisement of our heavenly Father. because He loves us to much to allow us to continue in that sin which brings spiritual death to our souls;
Then knowing this truth; we will enter into a reverent fear and respect for God's authority over our lives! What ever it takes he will not allow us to die in our sins; He loves us to much!

GOOD DAY EVERYONE;
This morning I would like to take a few minutes to contemplate on the name of the Lord our God;
First off a name whether it is the name of the Lord or anyone for that matter is more than just a title; it is associated with who they are. With their reputation, of who they are known to be; whether good or bad;
When we hear the name of someone we know quite well ; we automatically think of that person's character, nature and abilities, whether they are truthful or dishonest, the things we know them to be skilled at or their failures;
But when we think of Gods name:
We know that His nature the character of God is perfect and flawless there is no varibleness or shadow of turning in Him. HE IS PERFECT IN LOVE, HOLLINESS AND RIGHTEOUNESS; HE IS JUST IN METEING OUT JUDGEMENT WITH DIVINE MERCY WHICH IS SURE AND NEW EVERYMORNING; HE IS FAITHFUL AND TRUE AND HIS POWER IS LIMITLESS!
The Name of God engenders faith in God; to those who know Him.

Psalm 9:10
Those who know your name trust in you, for you lord have never forsaken those who seek you;

When David went out to fight the giant Goliath, he said you come against me with a sword and shield, But I come against you in the name of the Lord;

What he was saying was I'm not coming to you in my own strength, power or even my own virtue;
But I am coming in the power of God in his Faithfulness to be with me in all of lifes battles; I am relying totally on Gods name;

Even as the Lord is with us today as believers; for He has promised to never leave or forsake us;
And we are to walk in His name as it is written; colossians 3:17

Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus giving thanks through Him to God the Father;

The name of the Lord is a strong tower the righteous run into it and are safe!

Let Gods Name His character and Nature be your hiding place in times of trouble a refuge from the storm's of life!

Prayer; Father God I give you thanks, you are the creator of all things your power and love are infinite; you gave us the knowledge of the most high that we might take refuge in who you are, you are a very present help in the time of trouble and you deliver us from all our fears; let your Holy Spirit flow through us and create in us your character and establish within us the divine nature of our God which you have birthed into us as your children, may we put on the new man daily who is created after your likeness so that your love and all the fruit of your sweet Holy Spirit will start to flow out of us to touch the lives of those around us; when I face Giants in my life I am reminded that I don't face them alone, but I fight them in your name and limitless power and Faithfulness it is in the power of my God, who keeps me and delivers us from all evil for we trust in your Name alone; Amen!

I leave you with this parting verse;
Timothy 2:19

But God's firm foundation stands, bearing this seal, the Lord knows those that are His, and let everyone who names the name of the lord depart from iniquity!!!!

Jesus Christ is my righteousness! He imputes righteousness to me because He took all of my sin to the cross, and I am empowered to live righteously by His Holy Spirit who dwells in me as long as I abide. In His Spirit I am empowered by His Spirit when I walk in the flesh then I fall short, but His Grace abides with me and Keeps me because I am born again of God, I am not perfect in myself but I am perfect in Jesus!
