As we prepare for the storms approaching tonight, let us reflect on Psalm 29. Charles Spurgeon had this to say about the Psalm:

"This Psalm can be best rehearsed beneath the black wing of tempest, by the glare of the lightning, or amid that dubious dusk which heralds the war of the elements. The verses march to the tune of thunderbolts.

Dear reader, is not this a noble Psalm to be sung in stormy weather? Can you sing amid the thunder? Will you be able to sing when the last thunders are let loose, and Jesus judges the living and dead? If you are a believer, the last verse is your heritage, and surely that will set you singing: VS. 11 May the Lord give strength to his people! May the Lord bless his people with peace!"

The Crosspoint Hymn of the Month for June is The Steadfast Love of Christ. The Bible tells us God has ordained everything that happens for his glory and the eternal joy of his redeemed people. But enemies within and around us can make us wonder if God is good enough, wise enough, or strong enough to accomplish his purposes. What keeps our hope alive through the discouragements and defeats of this life? God's love is expressed in giving his only Son for our salvation. As J.I. Packer put it, “Divine love is a function of omnipotence, and has at its heart an almighty purpose to bless which cannot be thwarted. This sovereign resolve is referred to…as 'the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.'” Whether battling condemnation, seeking to overcome sin's power, or persevering to the end, Christ's love for us will always be steadfast, unchanging, and the source of indomitable joy.
