We will be singing our May Hymn of the Month during tomorrow's worship service. The lyrics to Jesus, Our Judge and Our Savior were Inspired by these words from J.I. Packer's classic, Knowing God...
If we know ourselves at all, we know we are not fit to face Him. What then are we to do? The New Testament answer is: call on the coming Judge to be your present Saviour. As Judge, He is the law, but as Saviour He is the gospel. Run from Him now, and you will meet Him as Judge then - and without hope. Seek Him now, and you will find Him (for he that seeketh findeth'), and you will then discover that you are looking forward to that future meeting with joy, knowing that there is now 'no condemnation to them that are in Christ Jesus' (Romans 8: 1).
Call now, oh sinner, on your coming Judge
To be here even now as your Savior
And fall now, oh sinner, on the mercy and grace
Of Jesus, our Judge and our Savior
