On Sunday, June 7th, Pastor Josh spoke to us about Mark 1:16-20, "Is Jesus Calling You?" He explained that the call of Jesus is personal, public, and precious. Pastor Josh reminded us that we do not need to worry about if we are good enough for what God is calling us to do, "Be available."

"Are you available to give what you have?"

"Jesus often chooses those who no one else would choose."

"Now as he walked by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers. And Jesus said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men. And straightway they forsook their nets, and followed him. And when he had gone a little further thence, he saw James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who also were in the ship mending their nets. And straightway he called them: and they left their father Zebedee in the ship with the hired servants, and went after him." Mark 1:16-20KJV

In the evening service on Sunday, May 31st, Pastor Josh began a sermon series for the summer: Divine Encounters in the Word of God. The passage he spoke from was Exodus 3:1-5. He challenged us, "Do not overlook your burning bush." Pastor Josh pointed out that we live in an information age, with messages constantly being sent, but the ones we get from God are the most important. "We have the Word of God, are we listening in?" He reminded us that we are not alone in our service for God. Feelings and human reasoning should not replace the Word of God. "When we stick to what God's Word says, there is no room for confusion." He asked, "When someone plays a Beethoven number, and they play it poorly, do we blame Beethoven for it?"

Moses encountering the burning bush was an experience of Scripture, an experience of soerenty, and an experience of selection. God did not demand Moses to come near. He allowed him to make this decision for himself.

Sunday, May 31st, was our first Sunday with Joshua Patrick as our pastor! Praise the Lord!

His sermon, In This New Season, Let's Go Forward, began in Philippians 1. He reminded us that we are collaborators. As Philippians 1 opens, we see a spirit of gratefulness, a spirit of prayer, a spirit of joy, and a spirit of prioritizing the Gospel. Pastor Josh reminded us that "You'll never come across a wrong person to talk to about Jesus."

He concluded with I Timothy 4:16, saying, "Church, let's continue."

"Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee." I Timothy 4:16
