Verses of the Week
Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much more, as ye see the day approaching.
Hebrews 10:23-25

Hymn History
“The Light of the World Is Jesus” ( #267 in Rejoice Hymns) ~ Philip Paul Bliss (1838 - 1876) was born in a log cabin in Pennsylvania. His parents taught him from the Bible and to pray. He was saved at 12 years old at a revival meeting. He became a teacher at 18, and his first hymn was published in 1864. In 1868 Dwight L. Moody advised him to become a singing evangelist. Bliss wrote “The Light of the World Is Jesus” in 1875 while going through the hall to his room. ~ Hymntime.com and MusicMinister.net/light

For the Sunday evening service, Brother Worrell spoke to us about four reasons our salvation is so great in Jesus Christ. The key scripture was Hebrews 2. He reminded us that we fear death until we know we will be with Christ.

On Sunday, May 24, Brother Keith Worrell spoke to us about salvation and John 3, where Nicodemus met with Jesus by night. Pastor Worrell reminded us that we can be born twice and die once or be born once and die twice.

In John 3:16, the word "have" is used. In Greek, we were told, it is present tense - right now!

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

He also showed us in John 19:38 and following, that Joseph and Nicodemus are no longer secret followers of Jesus when they buried the body of Jesus. Praise the Lord for their faith. Praise the Lord for His holiness and resurrection just three days later, and that we are offered new life in and through Him!

Brother Nick Bratton spoke to us from Philippians 1:27-2:4 on Sunday evening. The question is, "Are we fountains or Drains?"

https://www.youtube.com/live/hriBYdp1fZA?si=jHufxlNCTYiAG3Wo&t=480

He explained that Paul's testimony of Timothy is that there is no one else like him because Timothy shows genuine concern for their welfare. Mr. Bratton invited us to ask, "What kind of person am I going to be, starting right now?"

Sunday, May 17th, our church was blessed to have Brother Nick Bratton. He reminded us that we don't walk alone. Scripture he preached from included Hebrews 13:5-6 and Psalm 23:1-4. In Hebrews 13:5, he pointed out that there are two commands: 1) Do not be covetous, and 2) be content with such things that you have. We can ask, "What does God want me to do today?" Be thankful. Be content. We can remember that God will not leave us.

We were also reminded that we do not walk alone as believers. For those who don't know Christ, yet, "You do not need to walk alone one more day in your life." Praise God!

Verses of the Week

Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.
Hebrews 13:5-6

Hymn History

When she and her daughter, Lily served in South Africa, she wrote this song. ~ Then Sings My Soul: 150 of the World’s Greatest Hymn Stories by Robert J. Morgan p. 109
